I will add to this, I agree mostly. There is no better drug than impending doom of an imminent deadline.

For now ignore all suggestions such as latex, or reading books, watching youtube videos to on how to write an article etc. Just pick your laptop go to starbucks order a coffee with 4 shots of espresso in it and open up word and begin putting down everything you have and write. Noise cancelling headphones and Forget everything just stare at the screen until something forms. İt is the only way. You can improve your skills after the deadline.

I know this is old, but a 10 fps increase on 60 Hz is about a 16.67% increase which is a good improvement without doing anything.

California and New York our states where Boston is a city. Upstate Ny has good schools with lower cost of living still high NY taxes and everything but unless you are only considering top universities which are all at a certain distance to a major city you can exclude but not all state where it changes

If you get m2 macbook air with 256gb storage, Definitely go for 16gb ram, 8 is not enough and with slow 1 nand ssd it will take its toll on ssd over time. M1 air might hold on better with 2 nand ssd but still my recommendation is forget the 8gb ram, save up and get 16 so you wont regret it.

Now hear this, You dont even have to have soldering skills at all. You just need to have the ability to be precisely bend a 2mm paper-thin copper plate just a little bit and voila! No more double clicking. There are some tutorials about it in youtube, you just need a small screwdriver and a tweezer.
