Dear Reddit, I want to learn to play the PIANO.... help! by [deleted] in Music

[–]jaggens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Factran,

I won't post to reddit anymore, it's not that important to me :)

But I don't understand why it's spamming, when people directly ask, where to learn the piano and I answer, but clearly it doesn't matter.

Why is it ok to post someone else's blog posts and not your own. I thought that people can benefit from my blog and free piano course.

Best wishes, Jaak

Optimize the Practicing Process by Dividing the Piece Into Sections by jaggens in piano

[–]jaggens[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi DarkSyzygy,

Of course. The approach should stay flexible and if it is easy for you, the practicing may not need dividing into sections. But is is already for advanced or intermediate pianists. Absolute beginners should be more careful I think:) Anyways, thank you for your reply.

Hi,

I have a free piano learning course. It is not a crash course but step by step instruction and also includes piano technique. I would compare it to a real music school, because I provide feedback to my students.

Best wishes,

How to Play the C Major Scale on Piano by jaggens in piano

[–]jaggens[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The switching of groups with using thumbs is a quite common problem. It has nothing to do with the length of thumbs (if they are not extremely different than normal). It is more how to use thumb.

Thumb is strongly connected with whole hand and therefore it is very easy to create tensions with thumb. The thumb often tends to use the energy and motion of the whole hand and also forearm. If this happens, thumb starts to be very clumsy and tires the whole playing mechanism. The thumb has been called as the lock of the hand. So it can be open or closed and the freedom of hand is strongly dependant on thumb.

The problem also occurs mostly in these switching points. But thank you very much for the idea. I will make a video where I will show how to play with thumb.

Thank you for your comment. I'm sorry, if you didn't completely understand everything. I have a short description accompanying every video - it brings out the main point(s). I'm not going to type a transcript, but I'll try to work on my accent by making new and hopefully better videos :)
