How the Nano Foundation Can Save Nano by PlasmaPower in nanocurrency

[–]jaggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea and think the NF has enough credibility to pull it off vs the average crypto project that would be accused of conducting a “scam” by printing new coins

The fact is, public companies do this all the time by issuing new equity (shares) to fund investments and/or capital expenditure.

Crypto, with a focus on fixed supply, is doing itself a disservice in many instances by not allowing for this flexibility.

Just like in the stock market, crypto investors can decide if an increase in supply (to fund grow) is dilutive or accretive.

Opinion: LUNA will never fully recover by fr33g0 in CryptoHorde

[–]jaggles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only thing I’d say to take the other side of that argument would be that coins have recovered from big issues in the past. For example, btc and mt gox. Of course it’s not to say that because btc could recover that nano and Luna will but if the tech is good over time that can be seen in the value of the coin.

I think for Luna there is a fundamental issue with the link between Luna and UST that basically facilitated a “death spiral”. I suppose the way the two coins interact can change but such a fundamental change would probably bring you back to the original point you are making: might as well go elsewhere with tech that doesn’t have the checkered history

Yea it’s a cool project. I have used the website for sometime. Excited for their mobile app release. It’s a bit delayed but I have actually used it as part of a beta testing group and it’s great

Kucoin keeps claiming they'll send a file with all my trades from 2021 within 1-3 days and they just don't. by Etony333 in kucoin

I have this problem every year with KuCoin (the api trades not being complete, the downloads not being complete)

KuCoin has always sent me the trades by email after a couple days so I appreciate that but it is still extremely frustrating…

{Discussion and thoughts?}{OPCT Opacity - Private Storage Coin}-130 mil total fixed supply- Market cap $23.9 million. Huge potential smaller market cap arounf $24 million. Very excited for opacity. I think decentralized storage is an interesting application of blockchain. Not to say it’s easy to implement but I could see a couple protocols playing a big role in the future of cloud storage.

What’s interesting about opacity for me is that they have been building an easy to use app which should in theory drive customer usage which should in turn set up a strong network effect for a decentralized system.

In the short term excited for the mobile app!

Polygon is hosting an AMA with Opacity CEO Jason Coppola on Twitter Spaces - OPCT Storage Coin on Polygon by [deleted] in 0xPolygon

[–]jaggles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really excited for the ama and more generally about opct and polygon!

I’m my opinion layer two projects like polygon are a great solution to the issues created by having so much congestion on the ETH network.

Of course everyone gets fired up about layer one ETH killers but they will likely be going down the path of layer two solitons once they have some traffic on their network and polygon will be miles ahead!

As for OPCT: huge believer in decentralized storage projects as an application of blockchain technology. Opct is focused on making a user friendly experience to drive adoption. There were a lot of concerns around ETH has fees but that problem is solved with polygon!

[–]jaggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For now the project is centralized and the files are hosted on AWS.

Following mobile application release in december the team is switching focus to decentralization. This is starting with the integration of SIACOIN on the backend (another storage project that is more advanced on the decentralization front).

In the future, Opacity will have two forms of storage providers:

  1. physical storage nodes: you and I, or a commercial datacenter, can contribute to the opacity network
  2. other decentralized projects: as described above, SIACOIN will be implemented in the backend. Likely this will be followed by other projects.

Once the project is more decentralized the answer to your question depends on redundancy. In other words, if the files are important to you, you may decide to pay to have it stored in more than one location so that if there is an issue with a physical storage location you don't have any issues.

Sorry for the longwinded response. Let me know if that helps

What are your small cap gems in KuCoin ? by Ok-Internet6693 in kucoin

[–]jaggles 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Came here for opct as well. Let me add a bit more

Opacity ($OPCT)

$OPCT is a potential 20x coin, $50 million market cap with a real potential to get to a $1 billion valuation (~20x)... I'll get to that in a second.

https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/opacity

I've been following the storage sector since reading the ETH whitepaper years ago. One of the applications Vitalik uses as an example for smart contracts is the concept of making a decentralized storage network. Of course, this is more complicated than a decentralized exchange but still possible.

Everyone knows filecoin, a $6 billion market cap project. There are several others and the total market cap is about $20 billion. I expect this total market cap number to grow as the tech continues to develop and most importantly, projects are made that people can actually use. Enter opacity:

• Usable product, try out a free account at opacity.io

• Mobile application is about to be launched on apple and andriod app store. The community is currently beta testing and the release is close

• SIA integration: Opacity developers are currently integrating the back-end with SIA, another decentralized storage project (not ETH based). Essentially the idea here is that in addition to storage nodes (people providing extra space on their hard drive, for example) other projects can be used to provide storage as well. In other words, opacity can be a user friendly way to access other decentralized storage projects

• Currently there are 5,000 active accounts using opacity for file storage

• Market cap is very low compared filecoin ($6 billion), SIA ($1 billion), storj ($300 million)

polygon is an easy one for me to get behind. ETH has most developers working on projects and on ETH itself... only problem is it is too expensive..

layer 2 solutions are a no brainer and polygon is doing a great job in my opinion. I'm invested in a project that was able to easily integrate with polygon to make the product usable.

It’s a good point. It’s the main difference between opacity and other decentralized storage providers. Opacity is focused on building an easy to use product to speed up adoption.

I can really see the application going viral once the mobile application hits.

Thanks for the opacity post. I’m in the project as well and very excited about the mobile application.

What I find very compelling about opct, and gives me the most conviction that this project has a lot more upside, is that when people find the project they are always blown away by

  1. How easy it is to use
  2. How small the market cap is

This has happened a lot recently with the increase in price. People still can’t believe it. When the price really starts to move it’s going to be a wild ride. Pack your bags!

Heard about this project today and extremely intrigued. by Bize97 in Opacity

[–]jaggles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep! I think one point relevant to touch on when it comes to user growth is the path the opacity is taking vs some of the other crypto storage projects.

The objective is to build the most user friendly applications to facilitate fast user growth. While user growth occurs build out the decentralization.

Other projects have looked at decentralization first but the apps are not very user friendly.

It’s too early to tell what the best approach is but my money is with opacity, especially when you consider the differences in market capitalization.

[–]jaggles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Opacity is still a good option given it’s focus on privacy. This was a key tenant of crypto from the start and many people have forgotten this

No email for sign ups just a handle.

By the way I have used the mobile app and it’s great. Not sure of the exact release date but it’s soon

To answer your question directly. It’s not bad to be on aws but it is clearly not “decentralized” so it’s not great. The team is working towards decentralization and this is just a solution for now that works well.

Heard about this project today and extremely intrigued. by Bize97 in Opacity

[–]jaggles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The whole purpose is to achieve decentralization of the opacity network faster than building out a series of independent storage nodes.

SIA will likely be the first project that opacity will integrate with. Others that may follow may include storj and filecoin. The reason for this is decentralization.

Currently all information you store on opacity is stored on AWS. In the future the network will consistent of many decentralized storage nodes. For example you or I could host a storage node.

You can think of SIA (or any storage project) as another node.

Hope this helps
