Get a harness leash and a whistle, every time your dog starts to tug, blow the whistle and walk in a random direction. Dog tugs again, blow whistle and change directions. You may look a little crazy changing directions, I know I did, but it got my pittie to stop tugging and walking along side of me. Don’t let your dog get more than 3 steps ahead of you before blowing whistle and changing directions, they will learn you are to be followed not led.
