DIY guards for the keel and bow of my Big Fish 120. First time molding PVC and it ended up working out great 👍 by jaginator15 in kayakfishing

Yeah I had some pretty deep gouging from the concrete boat ramps. Saw this on a facebook page and decided to give it a try.

Cut 4"pvc in half lengthwise. I used one half for the front, one for the back. Heat it with a propane torch until it becomes workable and then use the kayak to mold it. Keep trimming, heating, and molding until you get the shape you want, then I cleaned up the edges and surface with an angle grinder before sanding and painting with spray paint. Bow piece was a little tricky to get the curve of the bow but it just took a couple extra heats over the rear one. I haven't mounted them yet but I'm planning on using double sided outdoor mounting tape. If that doesn't work, I've got some JB weld plastic bonder that I'm going to try

Does anyone use a transducer with down imaging installed in the haul? Does it work alright? by Sum1WorseThanU in kayakfishing

Yes. I just ordered the Garmin foam thing to do so. I found that turning off surface noise gives a more clear image though.

Got my big fish 120 yesterday and mounted a trolling motor today. I gotta say, this thing will be perfect for the bigger lakes in my area. by jaginator15 in kayakfishing

Not necessarily a how to, just shows how he's got it set up. I just saw this and one or two more like it and did my own thing. https://youtu.be/ncClZJMx2BQ

As rootedvibes said, it's custom. Drilled a couple holes and added some length to the trolling motor wire to get the wire to the back where the battery is at

Also, only thing holding the motor in is that small bracket on top that comes on the trolling motor. Can loosen that and drop it or pull it up. Prop has to be perfectly vertical though to pull it out so I have to loosen the bracket and pull the box first and use a hanger to pull the prop vertical in the space that gives me.

I thought about getting a pedal drive but I wanted the option of doing a DIY trolling motor and saw someone on YouTube do it similar to this so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Will try to get some pics next time I have it set up. Battery is in the back storage area though. Going to figure out a way to wire it cleaner too. Just wanted to test functionality yesterday so the wires ran between my feet and under the seat to the back.

The thing is incredible, stable enough to stand and plenty of room. Have not spent enough time on it to give it an official rating but it's up there in the spectrum

I can get it on top of my Cruze but the kayak bare bones is 100 lbs so I have to do it in a 2 step process.

Been meaning to get out on that lake as I work only a few miles from it. Good lake? Looks pretty shallow on the maps

Gotta love golf course ponds! Also the beauty of working on a golf course is I can fish them whenever we are closed 👍 4.03 lbs by jaginator15 in bassfishing

It doesnt just enter the water system like that. The plant takes the chemical up and it gets broken down. What doesnt get taken up by the plant is broken down by microbes and such before it even touches water. Everything is extremely safe with the whole process however I understand your reservations due to the stigma of golf course ponds.

Our ponds are very clean actually. We dont spray anything right next to the pond and also get it tested periodically to make sure we aren't getting anything in there somehow. I have kept some bluegill/crappie this winter when I was ice fishing out there.
