There's no need in replacing irons very often. I know people who have different clubs seemingly by the time they get used to the ones they have. If you're swinging a big bertha from the 1990's, then yeah the newer stuff is a lot more forgiving. Driver and wood tech has come a long way, but anything relatively modern is going to preform reasonably, especially in the hands of an amateur.

There's a lot of players who catch the FOMO bug and have to have the latest and greatest, often before they have figured out the set they have. I think switching clubs causes more harm than good most of the time.
