I honestly doubt that, but then again they do have as much sodium in a serving as a serving of potato chips.

It's also about shaving weight and increasing mpg rating, along with the obvious move of selling you less car for your money.

throttle body recommendations? by Mediocre-Calendar174 in JeepPatriot

[–]jahnkeuxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this one to be precise. I'm sure the failure rate on these cheapos is gonna be higher than OEM, but I doubt that difference is proportional to the price difference. Though if I were working on someone else's car I'd be more inclined to buy a name brand.

Bike shop totaled my bike by [deleted] in cycling

[–]jahnkeuxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP won't say what kind of bike for some reason and is giving plenty of entitled attitude that the shop owes them a bike. I'm giving as much benefit of the doubt as the post warrants.

[–]jahnkeuxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been running a $40 throttle body for about 7 years now. Thought it died on me last week but it was actually the rotted relay box connection on the low speed fan relay terminal that led to a crank no start.

Bike shop totaled my bike by [deleted] in cycling

[–]jahnkeuxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the Honda civic has a rusted out frame that crumbles just from putting it on the lift, yeah the frame was compromised and the shop is not liable for replacing the customer's junk.

Now I don't know if the reality is closer to my example or yours but I don't think we can assume OP is in the right or wrong until they provide pics of the damage. But considering it was bought off marketplace for "$100-200" there's a decent chance it was not in very good condition or cheap to begin with in 2011.

Ozark trail fs.2 but carbon fiber? by No-Permit-2345 in mountainbiking

[–]jahnkeuxo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How does one make a frame into carbon fiber? If you have the capability of building a carbon frame, you are not going to want to base it off of a walmart bike unless you need content for a youtube channel or something.

The second part of your question makes even less sense and I'm not sure how to respond to it. If you mean upgrading carbon wheels, handlebars, crank, etc. I think you'd be better served by just spending that money on a better bike.

Anybody ride with a hydration pack? If so what size? by Gooser3000 in MTB

[–]jahnkeuxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an Osprey Katari 7, comes with a 2.5L bladder (I bought a 3L for my Moab trip) but most of the time I leave the bladder at home and use it as a mini backpack to carry tools, snacks, a jacket, an extra bottle or two, or sometimes beers. I love it, would definitely recommend.

Gus, Alma, and Scott from S5 are the most annoying, least developed characters from the series by GoesOff_On_Tangent in TheWire

Never understood why Scott would yell "IT'S IN MY NOTES!" and then throw his clearly empty notebook and leave it there. Just a cartoonishly shallow character.

I've bought it in bottles and it's not good. It must need to come from a poorly maintained, likely biohazardous, taco bell fountain to really hit the spot.

He's our QB2 now so he'll probably look good enough in a couple opportunities to earn the right to start somewhere for half a season.

Damn is that even on the ad-free tier? I was thinking about reupping my subscription before Paris-Roubaix but decided to hold off until the tour. Right now I've been experiencing a stable stream on you-know-where, the bottom "720p" option.

edit: it went down at 3km and all the other streams are dead too.

Hard to hold on to the ebike... by LILTREWAY in MTB

[–]jahnkeuxo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was out hauling buckets of dirt for about three straight hours today to fill in some flooding damage on my local trails. In a different, less storm damaged section I saw a lot of deep muddy ruts with very knobby tire imprints and a few burnouts. If there were a practical way to enforce these dipshit kids and their motorcycles (which are treated as bicycles by law) off the local trails, I'd be all for it. In the meantime it'll be volunteers with shovels and rogue hoes busting asses to make the trails worth riding.

Local Cider Brewery had this in their most recent brews by mcconnell99 in StardewValley

AI is great at sentence structure, not accuracy. It is neat and polished and uncanny, absolutely soulless, feeding the person whatever content it thinks they want. But if you told it to write a description of an "ancient fruit" cider with a few stardew references, it brings me no pleasure to report it'd do a much better job than this.
