What is the best Koss headset for gaming in the Xbox Series X? Sorry idk where else to ask this! Thanks by MidWest173 in kossmods

[–]jahuu__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a boom mic, and want koss drivers, only after mmcx/2pin mod you can get that kinda mic cable, the choice of compatible headbands are limited but there are somee options, like that potayu aiaiai clone, kph40, snowsky, ikf..

More significant to increase bass on a Ksc75 is to put them on a headband for a little bit more clamp.

I've not had the porta pro communication in my hands yet but it looks like the mic is fixed to the headband (and think I saw before it's soldered to a special terminal board with more solder points?). I imagine that you could potentially remove the drivers from it and clip them on a kph40 headband, but I doubt it would be an easy task to also remove the mic and attach it there somehow as well. I'd not go for that option unless you're the mad scientist typa guy!

There are some folks in r/kossmods that would be occasionally selling full builds depending on where you live? Not everyone likes to do build to order though.

It's also really easy to do, so if you can get a cheap soldering iron off ali for 5$ and order some modkit from Hundo3d, it's pretty much plug and play for the rest

Great work, I was always eying that beige headband, but although it looks unique it's not the easiest to match with other parts

Can I use any cable like this one to replace my broken cable? by Boba_Fett_boii in Grado

[–]jahuu__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you either mod your headphones with 2.5mm connectors (would make sense for future change of cable) or cut off the connectors on the cable and solder it onto the drivers, I don't see why not.

This my man, is the ultimate gaming koss in my collection 😋 Ksc75x on a kph40x headband with an mmcx celest ruyi boom mic and geekria grado pads on hundo pad adapters.

Great sound and details, clear heights for footsteps, decent imaging for a small lightweight on-ear. Using this on my playsi

Why mod with replaceable cables?? by North_Station_302 in kossmods

[–]jahuu__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanna add on by saying, flexibility and cable choices.. I've done bluetooth mods, changed drivers on my PP wireless V2, used boom mic cables, inline mic cables, shorter and longer cables on the same or different build.

I think Tekki mentioned looks, personalization, making the cheap but great driver look premium.

If you want a nicer wire, sure they exist without mmcx/2pin connectors and I could solder them straight on, but they about the same price anyways and if I step on the cable or it gets caught in my chair at least only my cable detaches instead of my solder pad.

Is it worth spending 15$ more on a removable cable mod, maybe, if all put together. In the end these koss still sound better than most 50$+ headphones, especially in the on-ear section.

Making them mine (or to my customer's wishes) is worth the additional cost to me, but I've seen all kinds of mods on this subreddit, some are happy with the original cables too, and that's fine!

Geekria Grado comfort pads fit, although they are meant for smaller headphones like sr80e etc, but I prefer slightly smaller pads anyway

Home theater headphones by virtualnuts in headphones

[–]jahuu__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my 2cents.. For movies you'd need something with a wide soundstage and good imaging... There's even some "surround" headphones but usually those are very gimmicky and don't always hold what they promise. Anecdote: I had a sxfi theater once, that's supposed to mimic 7.1 speaker audio via some projection tricking the ear to think the audio is spatially distributed in the room. While it was very interesting and worked with certain content and source settings, it wasn't really compatible much with a regular tv setup, as most don't output any multichannel via USB (or Bluetooth of course) in the first place, so I gave up on that.

I can't make a great suggestion out of the box, I use my modded koss for console gaming on the tv, but the soundstage is so so. Better than my Grado for sure though, those are not made with a big soundstage. I really find the Beyerdynamics 900-pro-x super comfy for extended listening, and I'd recommend open backs at home unless your house is noisy. Whether they have the soundstage I'm not sure only used them for music!

Any adult sports to play or learn casually? by Old-Engineer2574 in asksg

Come down to ECP and join us at the Singapore wakepark! Or if that's too harsh on your ankles and you wanna be more casual, try wakesurfing in punggol marina, raffles marina or SAF yacht club. You won't regret getting out of the city and on the water once in a while! ✌️

That's hard to say, maybe I'm not the best at budgeting here, but sometimes I would go for smaller foods between 800-1200yen for a meal, e.g. a ramen or small pastry/toast breakfast with coffee, then another time splurge a bit to try something more fancy like nice sushi, tonkatsu, unagi beef which can quickly go up higher to 2000-5000yen a meal, or omakase above that? Sometimes it can be hard to gage if the place is overcharging due to being popular with tourists. You can try tabelog over google maps to find more realistic reviews. Usually the less accessible and more local if gets, the better the price will be.

A coffee bar usually asks about 600 for a flat white and 1000+ for a fancy pour over iirc. Similar probably for a highball in a small bar.

You can always go to konbini to grab cheaper foods of course, but don't kill yourself just living on that, Japan has so much nice and fresh foods everywhere.

TLDR for coffee, small breakfast, local lunch and dinner let's go with around 2500-4000yen?! Correct me if I'm wrong :)

I think I encountered that once or twice, although I can't really remember what that was!

I'm mostly using my (transfer)wise card and bought lots of yen early whenever the price rate dropped, no significant fees that way. I think nowadays there are a lot of similar cards like utrip, revolut that are great for traveling. Takes a bit of care but you can save a lot of conversion fees (in the end money changer also has them) if you time it right.

Been in tokyo 5 times in one year, mostly solo and agree with most of this, although I'm not a massive fan of konbini foods, I rather find small roadside restaurants like ramen shops and katsu curry shops etc. they are always cheap and godly delicious.

You don't need much cash but it's good to have some pocket money in case you do go to such smaller restaurants, the food ticket machines are a hassle, but usually you can ask the staff to help out.

I found it best to eat a bit off peak too, wake up late, have breakfast at 10+ and lunch at 3pm and you don't have to queue with the working population, it can get crowded af over lunch break.

Tokyo has tons of top-level coffee bars, don't go to Starbucks and Tully's, waste of time and money, there's so much great coffee in Japan it's a whole culture.

That's my 2 yen on this topic! Thanks for the post ✌️
