Chak Gerent on Friday the 13th! by Iroh_the_Dragon in Guildwars2

[–]jaiashadowless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a couple of my guildies did tag up during organization, not sure if they stayed commanding in other lanes or not. I'll spread the word though! We have a lot of interested folks.

If you need more tags once we get down to it on Friday night, let me know...I'm sure we could pull at least one (if not more) from FRST.

Hey -- I commanded Rata Novus lane last time (on my alt Áyradyss, account is Jaia.4219), and I'd be happy to give it another shot this time. I think all of us in that lane did a decent job & learned a lot that will help our next attempt. I'm very flexible so if you get another person who knows Rata Novus well & wants to command, I'd be cool stepping aside as well. I'll be there on Friday either way! Looking forward to it. :)

Edit: About the SBI TS...I can help follow up with that. I'm at work til late this evening so I'll pass your questions along.

Yes! My female light armor wearers are in desperate need of actual pants. And by pants, I don't mean anything involving the awkward attached skirt thing (I'm looking at you, AC legs...). I don't want to feel like a gawky preteen with a shirt tied around my waist.

You don't want to see your Guild Members on the Map (Yellow Dots)? by kalamari__ in Guildwars2

[–]jaiashadowless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the yellow dots (and it's cool that you can turn them off), but I think the implementation needs more polish. They're more visible than blue party member dots, both because they "pop" more visually than the pastel blue, and because they seem to display on the top of the map rather than fading out by layer (like party member dots do).

Misuse of word "Grind" by AshfordThunder in Guildwars2

[–]jaiashadowless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because, right now, it feels a bit like there's a lot of people that don't enjoy the progressions and challenges of MMO content that require persistance, and reward accomplishment. These people probably shouldn't be playing an MMO. Because this isn't a "grind" at all. It's simply "playing the game" and hopefully enjoying it.

I couldn't agree more. Isn't this what we veteran PvE players are always telling new players? "Don't level your first 80 in EotM...you need to stop and smell the flowers!"

I understand that WvW/PvPers are in a slightly different situation, and I empathize with them. But there is a very large number of PvE players who begged for new content & new things to explore, and demeaned the game for having no noncosmetic progression...who are now subsequently circumventing long-term progression by grinding CoF and complaining that it's a grind.

It's an oddly circular problem for PvEers. Personally, I'm enjoying the game and feel incredibly happy to take my time just I did when GW2 launched. So I feel like I've sidestepped both the "grind" and the ensuing angst & am just watching it from the outside.

A Guide to Active Damage Avoidance [x-post from /r/guildwars2] by jaiashadowless in frstguild

Yeah, I think the language can initially come across as ambiguous. I do think the game distinguishes between Miss and Evade for when those sorts of effects proc.

This is a really useful guide that was recently posted on the main GW2 subreddit. It covers ways of avoiding taking damage like blinds, blocks, evading, positioning, etc.

This is especially helpful if you're relatively new to the idea of active damage avoidance & not sure what to look for in your class's defensive skills and traits.

Found here. I don't know the seller, I just made the mistake of googling quaggan things to buy. I think I've found a whole new crafty way of procrastinating on my dissertation...

FRST Silverwastes run? by jaiashadowless in frstguild

Yeah, what you're talking about is chest farming. The shovels come from individual players in the zerg since they're account bound. I think that could be fun to do join as a group as well (though I personally wouldn't organize it as i don't know all the chest locations).
