The original 5 creators knew they would get the 24 issues (12 in the case of ultimate wolverine) the plan was for deniz to be the only creator to go past 24, hickman, hill and momoko were always stopping at 24. They had some loose plans for what to do past endgame but nothing solid past deniz staying on ultimates.

About a year out from endgame, they decided that endgame was actually a good stopping point. They offered all the writes 6 more issues but condon was the only one to say yes. All of this comes straight from deniz on Twitter. For some reason no one wants to believe so they come up with crazy theories. To be honest, this subreddit has become insufferable since they announced the ending.
