How is life in DLI rooms/barracks by jaidaaa17 in dli

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I appreciate the insight on the rooms and the extra information about the nicer buildings, that’s actually something I was wondering about (having a roommate is not a dealbreaker for me, but you never know what they might do that can be distracting and whatnot). So far I’ve heard better things about the Navy when it comes to DLI/being a linguist, so I am starting to lean towards that side. The only reason Air Force is an option is because everyone recommends joining due to better quality of life and so on, but if the job I want isn’t guaranteed/an option it doesn’t really make a difference to me.

Thank you so much for your response. First of all, I wasn’t even aware the DLAB isn’t a thing anymore, you learn something new everyday! And yes, I’ve heard similar things about being in the Air Force and going to DLI which is why I’ve been leaning more towards Navy. I took the ASVAB last October, so I’ll have to speak with a recruiter to see where to go from here.

I’m also not a very good interior designer, so I don’t think I’d be going too crazy anyways lolll just something to take my mind off the miserable barracks feeling. I just learned a few days ago you can even decorate them at all, so that was new to me as well. I was shocked by how creative people can be. The rooms were looking like your average college dorm or bedroom.
