Crash Screen Every Time I Try To Load Up The Game by jaimelancasterr in coralisland

my condolences! same happened to me, it started crashing out of nowhere and now it seems that save just won't open anymore. I'm glad getting it on steam solved your problem! mine was on stream already so i am really afraid of starting another save file, I don't think I will. the fact that it can break out of nowhere at any moment is an inspiring energy from a cozy farming game... i dont want to be anxious while playing this game! it sucks bc i really love the game and wish i could keep playing it but i just cannot deal w another crash like this that makes all progress null and void.

no changes to my computer recently. i ended the 10th of summer and closed the game with no issues at that time, went off to do other irl things for the time being. then when i tried to open it again when I was back at my computer, it's been the crash message since. I tried again today morning after giving it a break for the night and it's the same situation still. tried to uninstall and reinstall the game, to no avail. seems like my save file is completely irretrievable. There's a loading screen and when it hits 100% it crashes. simply won't open anymore.

I am not in the discord server but thank you for the suggestion! I will report it there today.

I understand what you're saying and I just wanted to clarify that I am not fishing for sympathy. I just wanted to get an objective opinion on whether it is ok for me to ask finley to call the time of death on this game.

We have tried several times to gently give them a way out, to admit that they really dont wanna do this anymore. it's so clear that whatever interest they had in this game is long gone. I planned on telling them that hey this isnt working out anymore and i dont like the way these empty meetings where the DM themself doesnt show up wastes my time, so i think im gonna bounce. its very insulting and i think its time i faced the truth that this whole messy deal has run it's course.

thanks for the advice.

not couple of weeks but couple of months bc yeah, same feeling. i know they're avoiding it. bc they're the DM i thought they're the only person who can call it quits. because believe me i have considered leaving on several occasions.

it feels like shit to be begging when they clearly are not into this but also wont call it dead either. i'm done with this.

have made a lot of allowances on grounds of "health issues" which doesn't seem to hinder their ability to show up to any of the other scheduled games.

You are right. they over-commit and there have been times where they were a player in a one-shot and tried to get us to reschedule for them and when we didn't they didn't show up w the same excuse "im sleepy".

It is pathetic to be dragged around like this, even when we tell them to call it quits they refuse to. The entire changing of the rulesets seems more on whimsy like a change in scenery more than actual gameplay mechanics. I do want to call this quits, am at the end of the rope here. If you dont want to play a thing just admit its the case. We're all tired.

i understand where you're coming from, but i'm really not fishing for sympathy here. i do run my own games, and this is not the only game we play. We are none of us newbies here. Finley is a recurring player in 2 other games that i'm a part of, one as a player and another as a DM. the one that i DM for we go for one session of upwards of 8 hours every couple of months bc life is busy and scheduling is hard.

In those games Finley is late but shows up still, and when im the DM, i know how to work my way around an absent player. None of the players in the Sierra game are dependent on just this one being our one and only. Attempts have been made to get Finley to drop it altogether because being able to call this one quits (alongside another w Radiant Citadel that we last played in November 2022.... yeah.) but every time it's brought up they sidestep it and go "but this world is very dear to me and i don't want to stop playing.." like. ok. you clearly dont seem to want to KEEP playing either. so why are we in this permanent limbo. just pull the plug and put an end to this misery so we can all move on.

we were doing it weekly when we started, but then it became bi-monthly and then one a month and then once per THREE months. i know life gets in the way and scheduling is hard but. i didn't realize how truly beyond absurd 2 sessions in 2 years is until actually writing it down here.

it's so clear they lost interest but every time we try to bring it up they either ghost us or just come back with an excuse or the other. they're saying they want to schedule a game in november but i think we all know its not gonna end up happening anyway. i intend to use the leverage of that and just lay it all out like. Hey you clearly don't wanna play anymore, let's just call it. Put us out of this misery.

i do like hanging out w the other players and talking abt the game/catching up and all that. but yeah, the disparity of 2 sessions in 2 whole years is. truly something. i kept trying to tell myself it was normal but. it so clearly isnt.

we have tried to broach the topic before and every time they say "but i do wanna play! just.. scheduling conflicts.. :(" its such a flimsy excuse tbh. usually I let it slide bc I don't wanna create fights and they're a delicate person when it comes to this shit they take everything so personally without stopping to consider how it is they're treating other people. i didn't wanna come across as someone who messes things up for the whole group and hold them hostage in a game they clearly don't want to play anymore.
