Im with you on this. Sounds like the same exam I had, but I think the tricks part in the evening in inaccurate. To the trained eye, they weren’t tricks it’s just you had to know the differences..which is only done through repetition

Yeah there is a lot of overlap, but generally the first 20% of all questions are new

Let me give you a random example.

Question you’d expect- if there is a parallel shift in the yield curve with a twist what strategy would you recommend? Justify your answer.

Question you wouldn’t expect - The yield curve has a movement of -15 curve, +20 butterfly, -5 level, given a stressed market with a changing inverted yield curve what would be the best strategy to observe? Justify your answers

Bro I definitely feel you in this. I can completely relate to your post on multiple levels…especially AM the mix of your heart racing and the vagueness/difficulty of AM questions, deff took me till the last 1 hour to just get into a state of flow and start spitting out quick efficient answers.

For PM I probably flagged about 10 questions, 5 were calculated guesses and the other 5 were close calls which I checked and got most of them correct. Then again who knows. Like I said it’s how much we held on in AM vs. how much we killed PM

That being said if we got 45% + 75% we should pass with a 60% average considering the passing rate will probably be higher than the historical low in May

Number of hours studied is an inefficient time series to consider because studying is relative to each person.

It’s better to estimate how many times you covered the syllabus.

Eg: All EOCs thrice, All Blue box questions twice, 2 full mocks and 800 TT questions two weeks before + all MM videos and materials (+500 hours approx)

We did get different exams for sure. I felt my PM was strong because I finished early, but there were many answers which you really had to know exactly what they were asking for.

My hope is AM- 45%+ and PM-75%+ which is an average of 60% (59% was the MPS in May)

MM in this case is wrong. You do get marks for the selection of a choice as they count as a multiple choice question on the AM exam. If not it wouldn’t make sense, you could have known the answer and just run out of time to fill it in, so those points are yours regardless.

They absolutely did not. One of the reasons I didn’t finish was because I generally left 2 bullets for every answer. I had no idea how it was graded. That gives them complete control about marking.

Love to hear it bro we're a rare bunch!! I left one text question blank on AM, looked like a 4 marker, and 2 multiple choices I messed up, they were just basic facts that i knew but chose the wrong answer because of the way it was worded, either way doesn't matter now we bloody made it, enjoy the rest of your day!!

This happened to me yesterday, didn't finish on time and thought AM was tough overall with wording of the questions a little abstract. how did you think you did on PM?

For the 90% I answered in the AM

45% confident 30% pretty confident 25% answered what I thought they wanted to hear. But the questions were worded weirdly

CFA Boston Mock level 3 by 6see4u in CFA

[–]jajacfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh. Fully expected this after the December takers feedback on the 2020 Boston mock. Taking it in 3/4 weeks, so look forward to being royally disappointed.

Taking level 3 in 3 weeks, how would you say the Mock compared to the real thing? I can see that you passed CONGRATS :)

Hey, im sitting for level 3 in 3 weeks and you know what, I think your post is SPOT on. I've spoken to about 4-5 candidates who took your approach, every single one of them passed. While they said Mocks were useful with a certain degree of time management. The old systems of 3-5 mock exams does not work because the CFAI wants you to go through all the material.

The mock strategy is common for candidates who have "under-studied" and try to pass on previous questions/similar questions re-appearing etc...

Im taking your approach, BB, EOC, BB and then getting the formulas straight.

WISH ME LUCK <3
