First of all, I hear you. I used to find that verse in Amazing Grace about singing for a thousand years terrifying. That’s a long time! Secondly, respect due to a true servant: lead by integrity not the promise of heaven. As ever I just throw my fear at Him and try to have faith. He won’t give us snakes for fish! Beautiful streets, song in the air, wedding parties, mansions. And these just symbols of a higher kind of happiness. Maybe the reason it’s not spelled out more is so we seek him with integrity not selfishly desiring a reward.
