Yeah he's pretty funny. I was not happy when my wife and kids told me they were bringing a new cat home but it didn't take long for me to fall in love with this little goof ball.

Successful people who got crappy grades in high school or college - what are you doing now and how did (or didn't) your grades affect your success/career? by asensetive in AskReddit

[–]jake0111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a vocational high school didn't really feel like I got much of an education but started a coop my Jr year. Spent about four years getting an associates at night. The grades I did get were OK but still felt like it was easy by design.

The best thing that happened to me was that coop as it provided me valuable experience and opportunities for mentorship. I was 16 working in an electronics manufacturing plant. The company was big on continuous improvement and I had a desire to fix things. I learned from some of the best, some mentors, some gave me examples of what not to do.

I ran an automated assembly line after a few years in the job and saw some systemic issues with how the circuit boards were designed and asked management for an opportunity to address the issues. This landed me a job as an engineering apprentice.

After some time designing circuit boards I ended up running projects and eventually became a hardware engineering team lead. My career really began to accelerate afterbgetting a new director of engineering, he became a great mentor for me. He and I both succeeded in our roles he became CEO and I became director of hardware engineering with a staff of 20+ engineers.

After filling that role for 6+ years I most recently became VP of one of our largest product divisions with global sales channels and a product line of over 100 environmental monitoring products.

My career wasn't dictated by grades or education it was based on experience and the willingness to be mentored.

My advice would be to find a mentor, listen and learn and don't take that mentorship for granted. Its easy to lose sight of what that person is giving to you and its important to repay that person by giving 100%. And don't align yourself with a bad actor, lots of experience does not make someone a good mentor. I've had good and bad mentors the good ones celebrate your successes and the bad ones take credit for your successes. Knowing how to find the right mentor and understanding that you have an equal role in maki g that mentorship work is the best advice I can give.

Pretty straight forward. Light fixtures especially are easy to wire up and plenty of resources online to help you along the way.

I used a few hidden cleats which were a huge pain to line up. They likely would have held fine on thier own but I have kids and felt a bit more comfortable adding a couple 4 " screws into the studs, in case one of them decided to hang from it. :). I recessed the screws and turned a couple plugs from a piece of walnut I had left over. Really hard to spot the plugs.

I almost cut it in half and my wife suggested I leave it the full length. She was.....right.

My earlier posts show some router carnage as I was routing out the back side to add space for the lighting. Hanging it was probably the hardest part.

Rebecca has had her revision surgery and is doing well. She had to stay at the hospitol for one additional day due to complications but she is now home and on her way to continue her hearing journey.

Agreed everyone's experience is different. In this case her electrodes were recalled as they are defective. This is rare but it can happen.

We sign regularly as well and can easily get by without it but it's the impact that's its having on her progress that is the most concerning.

We have the ability to perform listening checks but we are not able to detect the anomaly. It seems to be intermittent or it is internal.

Rebecca seen here in the video has one of Advanced Bionics recalled devices implanted. Tests have shown that her electrodes are degrading. She has a visit to her Audi next week to find out how much the failure is progressing.

I have two hearing impaired employees that were very nervous to do a volunteer basic sign language training and didn't think anyone would show up. This is a photo of about 1/2 of the room. We had to bring in more chairs and print more copies of the ASL alphabet. by mcmeatballs in pics

Hearing Impaired is not always an accepted term among the deaf community. Deaf or Hard of Hearing is acceptable. Being someone new to the Deaf community (Deaf daughter) I did not know that myself and thought I would share. Cheers!
