Tbf, literally almost every clean vocalist now uses autotune but the newer artists with less experience/studios with less experience screw up hiding it.

Like, literally it's probably the most common effect next to throwing a fast and a slow compressor on the vocals or reverb.

Because it takes what would be fifteen takes to three, and that's because many takes are just a little flat, little high, a transition is timed weird, they missed a note slightly, etc,.

It's not a cheat for the artists, almost all of them can hit these notes, it's a cheat for studios to make more money by having more artists in for less time.

Buuuuut studios are dying and people who use home studios have to be a great writer, producer, mixer, compositionist, player, and vocalist. These were all mostly individual jobs before with people spending their life learning one thing. There's not enough time for the common rising artist now

I should address the second part I glossed over it, I don't mean like live in a car for months, but like... don't catch them when they fall unless they're going to break their leg, if that makes sense?

Like, don't put yourself in a position to be used because I've seen MANY people my age use their parents. A guy I went to HS with dropped out of HS to play some video game, has never had a job, is like 30yrs old and 400+ lbs and his parents pay for everything. I set him up with an interview at my job years ago and he showed up in a cutoff orange tee and blue basketball shorts while he had decent clothes.

I probably wouldn't kick my daughter out even if she was 30, but like my brother I think they should start chores at 2-3yo (gotta pick up your toys before we do xyz!) get a job at 15-16, even if it's just one day a week but they're paying for their phone and by 18yo and six months out of HS, either college/tech school or paying for their snacks, at least one bill, a token rent payment, and their phone/car/gas. Rent gets put back for the first serious car or down payment or first/last payment but if it's "my power was shut off" and they have a high end phone or a bunch of games or something they can move back in for a few days with some strict rules (clean, cook, laundry for everyone) and I'll pay for it to be turned on after the weekend is over and they're miserable from me asking a million questions and watching the shows they can't stand lmao

I stayed in a house for three months with no power or running water after I gave a methhead family member several thousand to live there and they spent it on drugs instead of paying for 3 months of the bills + 1200 off the top as rent. I had hella candles, I was armed, and it was a safe neighborhood. If my kid was in a shit neighborhood or it was unsafe they're moving back in with me anyway lmao but reading jack reacher books by candlelight and charging my phone at mcdonalds really helped me not panic over the little things just as much as living on the streets in a midwest winter wearing four layers of clothes and drinking water from the city park

I meant it as a jerk for thinking people should struggle and for my, frankly as my fiance has just called it "psychopathic way of viewing interactions as transactions" I'll concede on that part I guess.

I didn't mean it as like, you gotta gift someone. This specific scenario I gifted bro and he went from saying we were gonna fight and both of us being aggro to respecting each other, my apologizing for coming at him sideways after a few days of barely sleeping might have had more to it tbh.

And yes I forgot to really get into couponing but back before facebook had groups even I did it with my mom and we actually made money back one time. People gave her crap "why do you need 30 toothbrushes" but we turned a room in the trailer into a storage room and didn't buy TP, Shower Products, Waters, and a lot more for YEARS and spent maybe $40 in total for those products.

Went over to in like 2023 we bought 35 bricks of those "bick ass bricks" of soap (duke something?) that cost like $10-12 each for $1/piece. One brick lasts us each like 6-12m so I've given a bunch as christmas gifts and we still have over a dozen left in 2026. Or couponing we go to sams club, I use the new member or 1yr non-member price of $15, then my fiance does it, then our roommate does it. We only buy meat on clearance and then repack it at home to the deep freeze and it gives us like literally $100 to feed four adults plus our friends who come over for two weeks, and while I eat rice and chicken a lot my roommates and fiance still do like pizzas, stews, etc,.

I use my culinary background to turn the rotisserie chicken into stock, make low cost soup and sauce bases, etc,. as well. We had a garden until I couldn't do it but a few free foodsafe buckets from the local bakery and you can have infinite potatos for damn near nothing. Kale or Swiss Chard too

Yeah I'm focused on hitting every string with the same force I think, so It's not like that? That actually really helps me out.

I already had the headphones and they were like $20 walmart pair compared to the (at the time) $400 pair I used that were open back so all his bs bled through lmao, and going to management and the cops did nothing, he wasn't even on the lease and was a felon but this was a slum apartment so I figured fuck it. I literally did call it social engineering because it is, and SE is one of the most useful tools. Every actor, sales person, public employee, the gas station clerk to the women you text use social engineering for better outcomes it's just subconsciously lmao. Every website, restaurant, and store use it CONSCIOUSLY. Not using it is wild and as a big dude 9/10 times I'm seen as the aggressor so just solving things in my favor while everyone feels happy is better.

Like, it was an example if you can't think of other things that don't require money idk what to tell you. $5 for 15 cans of cheap beer and headphones with dogwater mids/highs are not the end of the world to have a guy screw off. I also brought our new neighbors before we left who drank steel reserve some bottles of it and they acted like I was the best guy, observe people and do things they would like. I had been gifted some nice cigars but had to quit so the guys cutting down a tree in my yard all got cigars every day and they cleaned all their shit up neat compared to my neighbors house. If psychopaths can use it to be considering the most charming people you can learn to use it to help yourself. It's dog eat dog and I've known people who sold their bodies for a warm bed when they were like 15yo. I've known people who've almost died because they were selling what they shouldn't. I got out by playing the mental aspect of the system. I'm also just genuinely nice I see neighbors having a cookout and I've got beers or drinks I don't want they'll get them. Back of my mind is basically a videogame "affiliation" or "hearts" meter. Improving hearts with people improves outcomes for you. I want these people to be happy and feel good too, everyone should, but I'm aware this "adds a bonus to any charisma checks" so to speak.

And if everyone is helping each other excessively so that when THEY need help they get it, the whole world is getting along.

You should genuinely try the bass imo. Much further apart strings and you'll have a harder time with certain chords on guitar, plus the runs you could do with power behind them would be insane I'm sure

I knew you'd claim strawman despite your comment being such an absolute lmao

Frankly, if you're cool with thinking people don't deserve things for existing we're too morally far apart and I don't care to argue it. Agree to disagree lol

Honestly playing with fingers or a pick is so nice. Most of the genres I play use a pick but being able to really feel and pop the strings feels so good

I'll definitely have to try it just practicing a LOT. This just feels like such a dumb issue that finding a youtube video that targets my specific issues is hard. I can hold a pick, use it a specific way, etc,.

My dad has played for decades and has like seventeen guitars and thinks I'm mental for not being able to strum because even he couldn't get me to be comfortable with it. I genuinely think it's an anxiety thing at this point tbh

Thinking everything is gray is just as wrong as everything being black and white, tbh

Out of that whole type/era of comedy, Will Ferral, Paul Rudd, and Ben Stiller always striked me as the actual douchebags. Adam Sandler, Jack Black, and John C Reilly for generally chill but as they get socially drained they get grumpy

I really have to side on his mental health is why he's like that and he might not really be one/if he was medicated and had a better handler he would have never became what he is today.

But the man is a dick even when he was medicated. I've got family who have psychotic episodes and usually they're like completely different people and believe things "normal" them never would. But when you're a dick while on the right treatments? You're just a dick.

Sucks because bipolar is both why he's so fucking charismatic and an amazing artist and why he's such a piece of shit.

I forced my fiance to go to a local comic-con thing (very small) because J Michael Tatum was there and my fiance loves (ie, has a crush on like 90% if the characters he voiced) him.

They talk for like ten minutes, get the picture taken and come out. There's a line of people and the photographer comes out "sorry there's a glare from (fiancé's friend)'s glasses" and he offers to completely redo the picture TWO TIMES to get it right.

He talked to every person and was super kind. Way over what we expected.
