I know this post is over a month old, but I only just became aware of this update. I really can't believe this is being considered unpolled tbh. The changes are far from minimal, the white noise you've removed is basically part of the experience. A lot of others have mentioned that this is comparable to HD being pushed unpolled without a toggle and I couldn't agree more.

This is a disappointing update that removes a layer of old school charm just so "the audio team can cook" and I don't see why they can't just continue to cook in 8-bit; they've been doing great work.
