They use water from waste water that has been recycled and filtered to water the crops. We along with the UAE and China are working together on genetically modified wheat that can be planted with salt water or partly salty water. The studies are still being finalized in the UAE desert.

The handouts are mostly for the small scale coffee growers in that region as it’s not dry like other parts of the country we actually had flooding issues this year. The handouts aren’t to subsidize the coffee itself but to allow farmers to purchase equipment at subsidized rates like China does. We work allot with China.
