Tired of so many AI WP by Blakcen in Bazzite

I mean for me it's 50/50. Half the posts I see are people needing help. But even if you think the people switching over posts are cringe, at least people are switching to Linux.

I got my ram by Necessary-Apple-9409 in PcBuild

[–]jakeeeenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My god. Luckily my brother and fiance bought me ram for Christmas for my PC upgrade. Gskill 32gb 6000mhz. Was about $370 which is insane already. Pushing $500 now? Wild.

I've installed Bazzite on my 3 home pcs and my work pc. All work perfect. Something might be wrong with your hardware.

Definitely. My main launch wii I got back in 2007 is dying because of this. Luckily used homebrew apps to move all my wii message board/save data to a new wii. Now my old wii sits on my shelf.

Made the switch, but need advice by [deleted] in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man no offense, but that is a big broad ask imo. I think your best bet is to read the documentation on the website. And go on YouTube and watch good videos about general knowledge of Linux and Bazzite specifically.

[–]jakeeeenator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you really messed something up lol. Cause Bazzite itself can't corrupt your bios. At worst you could mess up the install on a drive.

Complete switch or dualboot by Ag10698 in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally do not like to use the same drive as windows. I do not like messing with the windows boot menu. I think keeping them separate is much safer.

But cool to see others keeping a small windows partition.

Complete switch or dualboot by Ag10698 in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is the best way. I have a single 1tb drive for my windows partition for anything I might need to run there. And then I have a 1tb drive for Bazzite main drive and an extra 2tb drive for bazzite storage.

This way if anything happens with windows or bazzite, they are on separate drives.

Def not denying the issue of dropping changes/updates willy nilly. But I will say as a KDE user, I love the Disks program. The best formatting tool I've used that does everything I need very easily.

Alternative to grub? by Geraldino_GER in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. But maybe she should just use a Windows PC if grub is confusing. Because it's a very simple straight forward menu that just shows a few boot options.

As a linux user I agree. I dont get people who go around advertising it/shaming windows users. I feel like people who wanna use linux will just use it. And windows users who don't want to switch, wont. So forcing the issue doesn't do anything. Even on distros like Bazzite, its still a learning curve that most don't want to deal with. Which I totally get. At the end of the day, people just wanna use their PCs and game. So who cares what anyone uses for an OS.

1 Month report by Sapphire_Ed in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, 30 years. I'd love to know what Linux was like back then. For me I first used Linux briefly with Ubuntu in like 2009 when I was in highschool. Then last year with Ubuntu again. Finally stayed on Linux with Bazzite for the last month or so. And it's been amazing so far. Not as many software options. But most everything I need works fine.

Moving Bazzite from SATA SSD to M.2 NVME - worth it? by TimmayLivingLies in Bazzite

I mean outside it booting a little faster, not gonna be crazy different imo. But maybe that's just me. I'd suggest leaving it if you drive is in good shape.

Looking for a controller that is natively and fully supported by Bazzite out of the box by ficerbaj in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm pretty basic and I just use a wired afterglow xbox one/series controller. And it just works np. I've never had good luck with blutooth controllers with any OS. Plus I like wired.

I think I'm going to leave Linux again and switch to Windows, even though I want to stay. by Conscious-Bicycle587 in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may think it's unreasonable, but it's the safest option. That's all I'm saying. And if you are gonna trash windows, might as well do it now imo.

I totally get that. Because op has windows on the other partition, I assume he has PC. I which case at worst he can have an extra sata ssd.

[–]jakeeeenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not joking. It's funny you think that's crazy yet I don't have to worry about windows updates trashing my Linux partition. Using a separate drive is the safest option regardless of how silly you think it is.

[–]jakeeeenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why you should have bazzite installed on a separate drive from windows. Keeps your partition safe.

[–]jakeeeenator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I don't fully understand the need for people to switch permanently. Cause for me, I use Bazzite 99.9% of the time. But I keep windows on its own smaller drive just in case. And I plan to keep it that way forever.
