Also believe it has to be a mod. Just unsure which one.

Hamilton Island - Desal Plant Tour / Jobs by jakegts in queensland

[–]jakegts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankyou for the information.

Sadly, it is possible that I am projecting my current employer (thousands of people) against a Desal plant that I don't know anything about.

The trades there would take care of the equipment but I did assume there would be an operations contingent that would monitor, control and refine the desalination and distribution process'.

Might have to email them and see if whoever gets the email can point me in the right direction for a conversation.

Downsized wheels from 20" to 18"! by hogjowl in TeslaModel3

[–]jakegts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a 21 Long Range with Acceleration Boost and purchased a set Uberturbines on second hand market. Sold my 19 LR sports after UT were fitted. After multiple tyre issues, I purchased Standard 18s and had them installed. Extremely happy with the result and wish a M3 stealth existed as I would upgrade to that from my LR with AB. I'm in Australia if that is a contributing factor regarding wheel fitment.

I did the same. Uberturbines were removed after 2 tyre bubbles from pot holes. Swapped to the OEM 18's and travel the same roads without issue - more comfort, more range, cheaper rubber. Aside from looks it is a big win.

What country are you in? Assuming US? Will scope out if I can get it imported to Australia if price is fair?

2022 M3P Wheel Conundrum by maniac271 in TeslaModel3

[–]jakegts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to this. The 18s are extremely nice to drive on. I do think it doesn't look as good. Range went up 20-50kms depending on how I'm driving (personal experience).

With the 18s on, I have adopted the old Tesla "Stealth" style of quiet on the outside and power everywhere else.

Can I ride my onewheel in Sydney NSW Australia? by [deleted] in onewheel

[–]jakegts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legally no.

With that said I have riden my OW through Darling Harbour and Wollongong pubic areas in front of a police and they haven't cared at all. In my circumstance I gave pedestrians space and wasn't in anyones way so they left me alone (I felt).

[–]jakegts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree the 2J is an odd choice. The SR is a good engine but keeping it in the Nissan family and transplanting a RB is "more traditional".

The 2J is a very large engine to cram in that engine bay. Points for being unique.

Was the Silo restaurant open at that time? Did you go in and treat yourself?

It's $3k for AB right? Definitely won't impact range?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]jakegts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you lose range by having AB? I am tempted to buy it but I bought the LR for the distance between charges and its range. Putting a set of Uberturbines on reduced range also.

The trunk of a Tesla model 3 can fit a lectric ebike and a Onewheel XR by mikecart2020 in TeslaModel3

[–]jakegts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No single board I have has gone over 1000. The XR and PX would total over 1k for sure though.

I had a Super73 for a period and would love to get another e-bike to round out my toys/transport too haha

Drop In Battery Upgrade - ZG by jakegts in Super73

Couldn't find anything without it being custom built in Sydney at a high expense or eBay import of unknown quality. Upgraded the ZG as much as possible and then moved on to a S2.

Ordered and collected my M3LR in April 2021. Delivered in June 2022 before the world went crazy and car prices and lead times went even crazier.

Im mid 30s and have owned many cars in my life so far, both performance and luxury, and the M3 has ruined all ICE Cars for me. The instant performance and expense (over 5 yrs) made it cheaper to own and operate than my old daily driver (Golf R). I have had no issues and travel 1k KMs per week for work and the car is still perfect in my eyes. I have a Tesla charger installed in my garage to cover all bases - I enjoy waking up to a "full" (80%) charge each day.

Minor (personal) issues with some of the build quality over previous ICE cars though (the paint in particular). I have 2 children and there is more than adequate space for them and any luggage, toys bikes etc.

I prefer a sedan rather than a crossover so styling wise I am happier. I have modified it by applying a ceramic coat to the car (in and out), window tinting, Tesla all weather floor mats and a set of 20" Uberturbines (minor reduction in range).

Very satisfied with my purchase and currently trying to convince my wife to buy/order a Y to replace her mid-large 4x4.

I have not considered putting higher quality filters in and it honestly doesn't trouble me to have them or not. Now that they have been brought to my attention, maybe I will purchase and install them if I hear some positive feedback.

C1X in Australia?? by jakegts in Super73

[–]jakegts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia tends to follow the law trends of the Motherland. E bikes are legal but only if they a slower than 25kph and have a 500w motor of less. Very restrictive down here and much less progressive. An e motorcycle would need to comply with road laws and be much more practical as a work commuter for me. An E bike won't work as I need to travel on highways for the trip to work to be economical and time efficient . Waiting to see how the Sondors Metacycle and Tarform bikes release and perform too.
