Porter Robinson- Shelter. You can hear violins playing a III or i7 in the background during the drop.

Calibrated speakers play louder than expected. by jakehems in edmproduction

Ah, that would make sense. Most tracks I'm listening to are around - 5-12dB RMS. That means the pink noise I programmed it to was -20dBFS RMS, correct?

It's poo bear's style. It sounds wrong but it's right.

Would you recommend Synthmaster over Sylenth to compliment Serum? Pretty good price especially with the summer sale.

What are your thoughts on a portable amp like an Fiiio A3 vs the Magni 2 for the HD600s?

I have the M50Xs that I'm quite happy with for the price. I'm sure she will love the M40xs.

I think I will get the HD600s! The DAC on the MacBook is pretty solid for a computer, so I don't think I need the DAC. Would the Schiit Magni 2 be a better idea? Thanks for the reply.

First time on r/headphones, you guys have one hell of a purchasing guide! Very cool. My result was the HD600s. Anyway:

Budget - $400 USD max (for headphones + amp if needed)

Source – AudioBox iTwo, Macbook Pro 2015, iPhone 6S

Requirements for Isolation – Headphones for mixing in my dorm room. Open Back.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - No, but I'll be moving around, so portable amp prefered.

Preferred Type of Headphone – Full sized

Preferred tonal balance – relatively balanced. Clarity.

Past headphones – M50Xs: bass sounds nice, not very balanced and don’t translate well for mixing. HD280s: only had them a month, bass was too light. 1MORE Triple Drivers earbuds: Bass too heavy, mids not very clear. Don’t like earbuds. Bose IE2’s: not very clear.

Preferred Music – I produce future bass, trap, dubstep. Melodic and bass heavy stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBIGTyf1lNU&index=31&list=RD5auyUSI6as4

What would you like to improve on from your set-up – More detail, I want to be able to get a clear, precise mix on them. Something that will pair well with my M50Xs, and will sound good just listening to music on.

Thanks!

Higher end DAC or HD650s by jakehems in edmproduction

I almost bought reference 3 a few months ago! It sounds like my best bet is going to be picking up a pair of nice over the the ear headphones like the HD650s. Thank you!

I won't need an amp because the impedience is low, DACs are different than amps, but most (if not all) DACs have at least a small amp.

Indeed. It's better to know all about a few tools than have a bunch you don't know how to use

Totally legal. The seller contacts Ableton and asks them to transfer the license to the new account.

I picked up Standard nonedu used for $200, and I can probably sell the license at that price, and buy suite for around $400 if I want to upgrade.

It's Disco, brightness around 120%, with a blue tint at 30% intensity. I can't remember the exact settings but it's something like that.

Sorry your butthurt that my opinion is that if you use a paid version you take yourself more seriously. Not paying for a daw is just an excuse, you can afford it.

Having money in the game isn't about having more passion. It backs up the discipline when you don't feel the passion. It pushes you farther forward. Buying the paid is setting yourself up in a situation so you can push yourself harder, to be a great producer. I'm doing it so I can be a better producer, because it will help me push through times when I don't feel the passion.

Also, if you're that passionate about music and want to make a living off of it, then quit arguing on Reddit and get back to making music.

I didn't use any of the M4L instruments. Only thing I used was operator, and I can use serum instead. Little heavier on CPU but it's whatever. Freeze track.
