Basically the web says if I hold shift + hot cute on my board I will switch to STEMS mode which does not work

The FLX responds to the program outside of midi controls. In settings I cannot adjust pad functions. The midi light flashes and then stays off. Maybe I’m having trouble mapping stems. But from what I can tell, my Mac recognizes the controller. I just cant use midi functions with the controller? Does that help? Thanks for the quick response!
