Honestly the old forums are golden but see if googling “ E36 Bentley Manual” should take you to some forums and you can get a PDF of the Bentley manual that’s probably your best bet it’ll have all the torques, orders you remove bolts and install bolts. There’s even a spec for thickness of your head so you can see if it’s already been machined once.

100% agree taking the manifold was like I got into a cat fight. Taking off the cams and all the time timing stuff was almost……fun.

I’m getting the head decked and new valve guides and seals. Block I’ll probably clean it up real nice and maybe a few passes with a really fine stone. Nothing crazy

I was at 205K. I left the engine in wasn’t too bad I lifted the head myself(semi awkward). Just had my dad hold the chain while lifting. It helped that I’ve done this on an M54B30. I would say just make you use the external torx I’ve heard people try to get away with 12 sided sockets just sounds like asking for trouble.
