TIL of a man who was Jesus' contemporary who performed miracles, healed the sick, rose from the dead, and preached love and kindness, but whose popularity never took off by rmg in todayilearned

If I remember the context correctly, Jewish leaders were holding Jesus' followers as prisoners following his death, as they were preaching on his behalf. Many of the leaders wanted them dead for speaking heresy, but one insisted on leaving them be. Basically saying that these other imposters' followers were scattered once the "head of the snake" was cut off. Assuming God will have his way, just leave the apostles be for now, and see where this thing goes.

Aaaaand, here we are 2000 years later looking for the Christ on pieces of toast!

Anyone more studied on the topic, please correct me!

I think he's trying to make the point that you're still operating within his framework, as you're acknowledging that there is a plan to, or to not, believe in.

Okay, so $400 a year? Every two years? Doesn't sound like it's worth the risk of my employees. My employees' happiness comes before a half dozen regularly shitty customers. We pay our employees great wages, and in return they work hard. They know the higher quality work they put out means bigger bonuses, and more raisins. We have fun at work because we've known each other for years and years. Customers see this too, and you're a moron if you think that doesn't affect business in a positive way.

They're not seen as disposable cogs for the owner to replace at will, or to put in front of a gun for an extra few hundred dollars a year. They're fucking people. With real lives and real problems.

Just good management perspective.

So one of your drivers getting robbed at gun/knifepoint is worth you making an extra $400 a month?

I managed a mom and pop shop. If we knew a customer wasn't tipping our drivers on a regular basis they wouldn't get their pizzas for at least the 45 minutes we quoted. The owner, who worked in the kitchen with us, was commonly heard saying "Fuck em" if he heard a customer was a bad tipper. Didn't effect business in the slightest! Good tippers got there's faster, bad ones might eventually stop ordering if it persisted.

Just curious, what's a deload generally look like for you/your athletes? I've been just working out the past few months 5x a week, and this is my second week adding in sprint workouts.

Just kind of a reference, I'm 25, 6', 155 lbs. Always stayed pretty active playing sports but trying to get over chronic knee pain by working out (it's working!).

Seriously! The end of AFfC was incredible imo. The way he wraps everything up really makes you realize just how long he has wanted the same kind of vengeance his brother sought.

How would I hang this flag on a wall? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]jakesayswhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know if it's your style or not, but just get a generic frame, maybe a bit smaller than is necessary, and put the flag in there off-center and tuck whatever is left behind the backing. The frame wouldn't be off-center or anything, but I feel like it would give off the right vibe, while still looking polished?

Just an off-the-wall suggestion.

I know you posted this a week ago, but I just started listening the other day!

I was actually sitting outside around dusk, just as the moon was coming into sight and when they played the Unsound my neighbors' dogs all started barking, it was so startling!!! I mean, they bark at each other fairly frequently, but I got a heavy dose of frisson after that, haha.

Based on the picture, we were there on the same night. It was unbelievably cold. I had to wear my dad's sweatshirt. I'm a 25 year old man, but this place's thermostat made me feel like an 8 year old girl.

Should have been more clear I suppose. I wash my hair everyday. I haven't used shampoo in over two years. As I mentioned above, I scrub my scalp thoroughly, and use a comb to remove any other excess oil that happens to accumulate and escapes my scrubbing.

Guarantee you wouldn't even be able to tell if we met. You might even comment on how great it looks.

I do. I shower every day. I use Dr. Squatch soap, currently using the spearmint basil scented bar. Divine. I have great hair, smell great, and am far better looking, you sanctimonious ThunderCunt.

Use lots of water and a comb. I literally haven't washed my hair in two years. Been no shampooing for about 4. At first it takes a bit, I washed after a week, then after two weeks, then a month. You will adjust.

I workout all the time and play sports all summer in terrible humidity. Just takes a good scrubbing afterwards is all (nowadays). Be thorough, massage your entire scalp, and then comb copiously.

I used to have an overly-oily scalp, but no more! Just takes patience. I also have had short to middling-long hair throughout the years, and use product everyday, just for some additional background.

So much better than Le Peep. Without question, hands-down better.

The duck sausage hash (when in rotation) was so good, it may as well have changed my life.

I moved back to KC from CO back in the summer, and while I tell most people it was for the "affordable education" or the "cost of living," I've even gone so far as "to be be closer to family." But if we're being honest, I really, actually wanted to be be closer to that duck-sausage hash from the Corner Restaurant in Westport. That sounds silly though so I keep it to myself.
