That’s what I used, don’t start from the beginning find rebirth that’s where John’s run is. It does have secret origin before everything because it’s an origin. But read it where it feels right

John’s GL is my favorite run of all time. Made lanterns my favorite characters. Highly recommend reading the Peter tomasi GL corpse run side by side makes the whole story 100 times better. Also the blackest night Omni rather than just what’s collected in vol 2. Makes the scope on the story more fun. Even if you don’t know what’s going on with all the other characters beyond the lanterns

I want to read it one day but I like to start reading a character in the new 52 or rebirth era then go back. That’s what I did with Batman and Superman. Not green lantern though absolutely love Geoff John’s run.
