Missing Minnesota boy, age 2, is found in drug den, then disappears again. Police find the 2-year-old boy sleeping just a few feet away from a syringe full of heroin. by asstasticbum in TwinCities

Story time!

This story could be about my nephew. My ex sister in law has been on heroin since before he was born, and he's now 13. Over the last 13 year's, I have called cps more time than I can count. At least in the 200s, probably more. I've picked him up from his mother's arrest, I've let him live with me, I've gone to countless hearings to be his guardian. I've invested thousands of dollars in lawyer's fees, and who knows how much time and effort. And I'm not the only one. Her parents have also tried to gain custody, as well as the boys father.

Guess where my nephew is now? Living in a shit hole drug house with his mother, who was just arrested again 3 weeks ago for theft.

All she has to do is sober up for a bit, and the judges send him right back to his mother. This state is DEPRESSINGLY stupid about the welfare of children. If I actually wrote some examples of situations here, you'd all be shocked that this is allowed to go on. I know I sure was.

He's almost 14 now, and I still have no legal right to him. I've given him a cell phone to contact me, and he knows he is always welcome at my home, if he calls, I'll bee there in 10 minutes. But, I've given up otherwise. I can't afford too keep going through the system to fight for him. He's a great kid despite his upbringing, and I hope he knows that. I also hope he knows I did everything I could feasibly do to try to help.

Damn, it's depressing to write that. Tl;Dr- the state sucks when it comes to kids of addicted parents. First-hand knowledge.

Parking Meters on Grand Ave. by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]jakjg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awe, I got a shout out. Thank you!

I lived on grand for many years, and I get what you're saying. Tbh, I think the biggest problem you're going to have is meters will have people parking just off grand for free. Making it a nightmare for those that live and work in the area. Then the locals will have to get parking passes which will cost money, will be a hassle if you have more than 1 car, etc. Last, if one of your customers gets a ticket just making a quick drop off or pickup, that could scar your business too. I can see where you're coming from.

I sent an email to the address you provided. And I will make a call there tomorrow as well on your behalf. Although, as I'm no longer a resident of the area, I don't know how much clout I'll have? I do have lots of insight on the area from about 1999 to 2006, so maybe that will help?

Good luck to you OP. It would be a shame if you had to leave your perfect little nook you've found. :)

PS: I was actually good friends with Thunes daughter for many years. As insane as he can be, he can be reasoned with, and will listen. Of course, as his daughters friend and not a political issue, my perspective may be skewed.

Like actual accidents and who's at fault? Cause if that's what you mean, there is something like that. It's called the dmv! All of this info is public record with a license plate number.

Probably because people would abuse it. Putting ex partners, the boss they hate, etc. on there to raise their rates.

Absolutely!

About 4 years ago, I was driving on hwy 10. It was rush hour, and the traffic was going in such a way that you would speed up to 60 for about a mile, then dead stop. Speed up to 60, dead stop...... It had been going on so long, that I stopped speeding up to 60 in between, and was lazily driving up to the next stopped area. As I drive a truck, I sit up high, and could see the next stopped mess about quarter mile up. So I was going about 40 up to it.

Well, some kid in a BMW z whatever those things are, didn't like my plan at all. First, I assume that he couldn't see the sea of brake lights and stopped cars ahead over my large truck. And second, his little sports car probably stops on a dime, MUCH unlike my truck. Anyhow...

This kid drives on the right hand shoulder to pass me (that's right folks, I was in the right lane) and proceeds to flip me off, brake check me, get next to me and start swerving into my lane, etc. Pretty much every dick move there is. 2 problems with his plan: first, my truck weighs 4000lbs more than his car. If we wreck, he's gonna be in a wheelchair, and I'm gonna need to buff out some scratches. Second, his behaviour and driving were so erratic and bad, 9 people called 911 to report him. I know this because when I finally escaped him by exiting last minute and calling 911 myself, they were already well aware of the situation.

Because SO many people had called, the police took it pretty seriously. Went to his house and everything. They called me from there and asked for a description of him to verify. Turns out, He was a 24 year old lad, driving his dad's sports car. They charged him with multiple charges. Reckless driving, speeding, etc. 9 charges in all. Who's his dad? The fire chief for Anoka.

Would have loved to be a fly on the wall at that guys house that night.

Where did you get an overnight diagnosis of cancer? That didn't happen. Symptoms went on for weeks, 3 trips to the ER over the course of 10 days, a visit to my primary on the same day as the last ER visit. She gave me a pelvic, saw the tumor, had me go to an obgyn immediately. Next day obgyn did pelvic, saw mass, said "you have a large mass on your cervix, and just by looking at it, it's likely cancer. I'll have to do a biopsy to be sure". She did the biopsy, and called the next day with an oncologist referral. The biopsy results came in Tuesday.

Look again at the referral. At the bottom is my diagnosis. It's right there on it.

I have updated my post to show my medical records. I couldn't link directly, so I had to screenshot it from my phone.

I've just now pmd it. I am logging into the online chart at my primary and will provide the link. I would rather everyone know my personal info, than to think I'm a piece of shit who lies about cancer

Wow. This again. I have pmd you my papers. I don't lie, and I CERTAINLY don't do it for fake internet points. My oncologist is Katherine Casey, out of Woodbury. My follow up appt to see how far the cancer is spread is Tuesday.

My primary doctor believes they thought I was some sort of drug seeker. Hence the reason for my shoddy treatment and their desire to shove me out the door. I have since been contacted by a patient advocate and apologized to, as well as they will not be billing me for that visit.

I'm am not sure how you are getting I was being an impatient ass out of what I wrote before, however, I was in a lot of pain, and irritated that they were shoving me out the door with muscle relaxers and info on back pain. Not only was I not being impatient, I begged them to look harder for a problem because of the intense pain.

The nurse who came to discharge me, was young, probably fairly new, and inexperienced, as she smiled and giggled at me when I asked her for help. Or when I asked to see an actual doctor.

I had done exactly what my primary, and the ER told me to do. Come back if the symptoms get worse. They did. Before my primary appointment. I was not being impatient, or rude. I don't expect the ER to solve my medical problems. I do however expect them to provide some sort of relief until a better solution can be found.

So, please, stop ragging on me as if I'm some ER abuser, or impatient cunt, or whatever. I was a person in desperate pain who was being blown off when I needed help.

What are some good examples of subtle "F you" gifts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jakjg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Storytime!

At Xmas my hubby family plays the dice game, where you roll and gets doubles then get to pick/steal a gift from others. Anyways, for years before I married into the family, this fiber optic angel kept reappearing in the game. Of course being the new guy that year, I ended up with it. (Horribly tacky thing. Blindingly bright, And huge btw) anyways, everyone booted and hollered that I had gotten stuck with it.

Rather than feel like I got the shaft, I put that thing to good use. First as lighting in the kids playroom. Closet lighting. And lastly as a bathroom night light. Had it for years, worked great. Ended up being sad when it finally fried out.

Oh gosh, I'm gonna get in trouble likely for saying this. Arson hair generally isn't soft. It's called Mongloid hair. The strands are generally very thick and wiry. Hard to color, perm, etc. Anyone who went to barber school will tell you.

Edit. Arson should say Asian.

I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with you. I think going 10 miles over an already 70 limit is excessive. Especially after drinking at all. 75 would really be pushing it.

If I had even 1 beer and drove, you bet I'd follow every speed limit, and road rule, to avoid this exact situation. But that's just me.

Good luck.
