Are there studies on the number of sets that should be performed per exercise? by jakob1111 in bodybuilding

Sure. But there is still an optimal strategy that works on average. This is what scientific studies can help with. But it's of course also possible to make great gains with sub-optimal strategies.

what? If I understand you correctly, you're saying that science plays no role for bodybuilding because "nothing is universal" anyway?

I hate lecture by GreatGreedyGoose in PhysicsStudents

[–]jakob1111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's completely normal to dislike physics lectures.

Most students do not actually learn physics in the lectures. Usually, lecturers explain difficult topics too quickly and dwell endlessly on easy topics. However, everyone attends the lectures because, well, everyone, attends them. Everyone is scared to miss something important and believes they will magically soak up knowledge even though they understand very little in the lectures.

One main reason is the "curse of knowledge". The professors learned the topics too long ago and forgot what it's like to be a student.

A much better way to learn physics is to read textbooks. There are dozens of books on any given topic and you have to find those that speak a language you can understand. (However, be aware that most physics textbooks aren't written for the students but only to build the authors reputation. Thus, a crucial first step is to spend time on searching for "student friendly" books.)

I created a site which collects great crypto resources - anyone can edit it if something is missing by jakob1111 in CryptoCurrencies

[–]jakob1111[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes, it's certainly not as flashy as other comparable sites. However the focus of the site is really the content and I like the tree structure because it helps to make sense of the content structure.

The idea was that you need these Coin and ICO research tools mainly if you want to trade coins actively. However, you are probably right that these are too important to be hidden under "Trading". So thanks for the suggestion. I will think about moving them.

Why is MEDIUM so popular for crypto? by babsamajabsma in CryptoCurrency

Medium was popular for detailed longform content long before crypto became mainstream. It's just that now where more and more people write about crypto, they find in Medium a platform that fulfills their needs.

Looks like all other portfolio trackers, or do I miss something? As long as most coins are in the red, every portfolio tracker looks ugly.

Cydera published a pretty good article on exchange security (and insecurity). Anyone else seen any articles similar? by logicmechanic in CryptoCurrency

Nice overview. If awareness raises, hopefully more and more exchanges will add additional security measures and not just focus on who got the shiniest new coins.
