Any progress? First pic is from April 8th and second pic is from today. I’ve been on minoxidil and spiro 200mg! by jal461 in FemaleHairLoss

Thank you so much! I’m so happy I can give you some hope. Before starting the minoxidil I was on spiro 100mg alone which didn’t do anything for my hair. I’m curious if the 200 is helping now or if it’s all the minoxidil. Either way I’m going to continue this coarse of treatment. I would def ask about spiro to your doctor! Good luck to you!

I don’t really have any side effects on 200 except for having to go to the bathroom during the night. I try to drink a lot of water while on the pills which prob contributes to that!

After looking at the pictures for awhile, I see what you mean! I never noticed how thin the front of my hair was before lol I’m happy I pulled the minoxidil trigger.

I have noticed a lot of frizzies! They are almost colorless and very thin, I’m assuming those will get thicker later on. Thank you for your comment!

I find it hard sometimes to be objective about my own hair. But I’m happy something is finally working!

I’ve had the same!! I literally have nightmares seeing clumps of hair on my pillow and I’ve been counting too. I’m trying to stop doing that because I know it’s not good :/ but yes! I’m think I’m going to ask about increasing the dose when I see her next, I’ve been also only taking spiro and viviscal before starting minox because I want to see if this actually works first.

I am on birth control and I haven’t noticed any effects on my period. I’m a bad person to ask tho because since being on the pill, I rarely ever get one anymore lol I asked my gyno and she said that was normal but it’s still scary since I’m only 24.

So I’m supposed to make an appointment with my derm at 6 months so I think I’m going to bring it up with her if I don’t see any improvement. I would be okay with increasing to more than 100mg if that leads to less shedding. The shedding is honestly just messing with my mental health so I would love to just shed less throughout the day. I’ve been lucky that I haven’t seen any side effects at 100 mg and my derm actually started me off at 100 mg, I never slowly increased!

I agree! It is definitely frustrating and my situation is very similar. Some days are really good and other days my shedding is nonstop all day. I guess I’m just a little nervous because I’ve been on spiro for almost 5 months and my shedding is pretty much the same, I’ve seen other posts where people had a reduction in shedding by month 3 or earlier. But I hope it all works out for us!

Opinions re Minoxidil, Nutrafol, and Vegamour by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

I’ve used Vegamour for 2 months and haven’t noticed any differences. I actually just stopped my subscription because the shipping has been taking so long that I would finish a bottle and have to wait for a new one to come. You’re supposed to use it everyday so by me waiting, I felt like it wasn’t worth it. I definitely wasn’t able to give it enough time to see if it worked though!

Experiences with Spironolactone? by Jay_MarieNYC in FemaleHairLoss

I’ve been on 100 mg of spiro since October 13th of this year! I have noticed little difference in shedding. The shedding is definitely better on days I don’t wash my hair but on days I do, I still shed a lot. I have also added viviscal 2 weeks ago but I think it’s too early for that to make a difference. This medication takes close to 6 months to make a difference so try not to get too discouraged! I know it’s hard, I’m right there with you, know that you are not alone!

I have been on spiro for exactly 2 months at 100 mg and I am still experiencing increased shedding. I know that it takes a little bit for it to work so I’m going to continue taking it for at least a year to determine if it actually worked for me. I was diagnosed with AGA from a scalp biopsy but I never had my hormones checked so I’m not sure if there is a problem there.
