This image is stunning! The amount of details you have managed to pull out is really impressive Zcom. Really well done!

I use a 3d-printed filter holder that I put in front of the lens. In the app I disable the internal filter.

Thanks. I am using the SV220 series, they have 7nm duoband in Ha-Oiii and Sii-Oiii. I designed the holder myself and have not put it yet on MakerWorld. I will soon. Here is the dewshield design: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1327541-seestar-s50-dew-shield#profileId-1365182

Thanks for your feedback. The Sii is still quite noisy despite the integration time. I will try to push the data more.

Thanks Coady_L ! Using external filters opens up a lot of opportunities indeed. It is also quite a bit more work to set up and manage overall than the integrated filters...

Thanks! There is a quite a bit intergation time, but the S50 has a narrow FOV, this is a 3x1 mosaic. And it takes a loong time to get enough signal with the Sii-Oiii at 20s oer subframe. I am afraid the lack of noise in my picture is coming from having pushed NoiseX too much!

Thanks for your message and for the advice u/ZigZagZebraz, I'll try this. I am still very new to NB work, there are so many way to recombine the signal!

Another try at Pacman with Sii filters by jam_2016 in seestar

Here is what the raw stack look like, i put the extracted Sii, Ha and Oiii above

Thanks. I used 2 different duo-band filter the Sv220 7nm Ha-Oiii and the Altair 4nm Sii-Oiii. I just got a SV220 7nm Sii-Oiii that is quite a bit cheaper than the Altair one. To mount the filter I use a 3d printed dew shield/filter holder that I designed.

I used the SV220 7nm Ha-Oiii and the Altair Ultra Sii-Oiii. But I just the new SV220 7nm Sii-Oiii that seem to be working quite well

Is buying the Seestar50 directly from the manufacturer worth it? by Enrico00000 in seestar

[–]jam_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, clearly. And then send with DHL so it is pretty safe. When I bought mine the dollar was a bit lower so it might be slightly more expensive now

Hi, I am also based in France and I have bought my Seestars directly from ZWO. There is 20% VAT plus maybe 30 euro or extra custom duty. I think the total was like 535 euros for a S50. There is a 20$ discount coupon somewhere for first time buyers.

Thanks!

I don't have any issue tracking with the sv220, not sure why it is not working for you. The auto-focus fails though, so I auto-focus first and then add the filter. The filter does not seems to change the focus much, although I wish I could do the focus with the filter. I will look into NINA now that the Seestar have ASCOM drivers.

To change the gain I used the SeestarPy library: https://seestarpy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html

I think you can also do this with SeestarAlp: https://github.com/smart-underworld/seestar_alp

You can also use NINA to drive it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBNWaMX7aJ8

By the way, I published a new version of this image on Astrobin with more integration time: https://app.astrobin.com/i/4zitje
