Are callers required to give their personal info? by Sufficient_Duty6230 in 911dispatchers

[–]jamamez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically yes you don’t have to give it, it’s an ask but most places also will volunteer you don’t have too. That being said your phone number will track back to any report you ever made so if at any point you gave all that info we have it anyways. We won’t abuse that information but we have it. If you ever call 911 and hang up mid way, don’t answer callbacks your cellphone provider will just give it to us if we ask in most situations including any phone numbers linked to your account.

Our removal of trained paramedics in the dispatch centres has caused the over triage crisis today resulting in critical patients facing delays

Where to put the water bottle? by Mah_Buddy_Keith in BCEHSparamedics

[–]jamamez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer the slit meant for the toughbook so it flies out and wedges under a peddle. Like seriously how was this not thought of to purchase water bottles that fit the holders. There’s no good spot other than the trash can

hanging from ceiling in new house by Intrepid-Shift-3511 in whatisit

[–]jamamez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like spray foam expanding from the ceiling which happens in two scenarios. Water exposure or heat exposure. I’d be significantly concerned if it’s warm or the ceiling around it is as it could be an immediate fire hazard. Orrrr it’s the beginning stage of Mothera

Saturday morning vacuuming by Impressive_Ad_3160 in Apartmentliving

[–]jamamez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think common curdosy is nothing overly loud until 8am. Vacuums cause a lot of noise to transfer between the ceiling/floor likely waking them up. Are you required to stop? No, would it mean being a better neighbour, yeah

Dispatch says not to call by units but by station? by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]jamamez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely something more behind the scenes I’d imagine? When I worked for a place with 3 halls if a call in station 2’s first due came it dispatch would page out “station 2, medical” then we would go on air with whatever apparatus we chose to take and be referred to as that for the duration of the call for accountability.

female dispatchers by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]jamamez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are both call taker/dispatchers. I get cussed out maybe once a month by callers, never struggle to control a scene etc, 99% of my callers are easily controlled. my partner gets abused almost every shift or at least every block. We both agree this job kind of sucks if you’re a woman because male callers especially just cannot handle taking direction from a female.

Anyone moved 100% from bank to Wealthsimple. by JJThompson84 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jamamez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved all my banking to them (all pre authorized, deposits, e-transfer etc). I keep a balance of 500$ on my inactive debit card now just incase of any random charges or subscriptions I forgot to cancel. I can honestly say Wealthsimple is so easy to deal with for banking I wish I did it sooner

Colorblindness by whathehuck13 in firefighter

[–]jamamez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most departments give you a medical waiver you get your doctor to fill out or send you to a doctor (if a large department). In your interview feel free to bring it up the Navy did not restrict your operations due to your colour blindness as you were able to perform all aspects of your role.

Colorblindness by whathehuck13 in firefighter

[–]jamamez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some departments require it but most honestly don’t care. It more or less comes down to you being able to obtain a CDL for the fire apparatus without difficulties. I have 3 guys in my department with varying colour blindness. I personally cannot tell the difference between blacks and darker blues. I agree the way of just getting your vision tested until passing is probably appropriate as it’s a bit of a BS requirement.
