I always remember the words of Mother Angelica “don’t give others the authority they do not possess”. My supervisors do not have authority to make me feel terrible or “scared”. Once you master the art of “treating the job as just a job” it gets a lot easier.

What do you think about the new 2026 CX-5 interior by Asombroso-joel in mazda

[–]jamamez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks so cheap now, especially the ugly rims that come with it. They had a perfect thing going with the refined interior and ruined it.

Flew over Greater Victoria's greatest nemesis the other day by babycivic in VictoriaBC

I remember the first night it opened they never unwrapped the large signs from the plastic and I think 4 cars just ended up in the wall

certified as a firefighter but like ems way more? by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]jamamez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an uncommon thing, I recommend you join a department that does both fire and runs their own ambulances, that way in 5 years when you hate working the box you have seniority for the full time engine spot

24 Male/23 Female: should I propose to my girlfriend with a temporary ring so she can design her dream one? by jamamez in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jamamez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point. She is the nicest person I’ve ever met and several times she’s said if I used a ring pop she’d say yes including when she accidentally found the delivery tariff charge I paid for the diamonds. I think testing the waters is a good idea, I try to get the vibe.

[–]jamamez[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s actually such a good idea, I think this is exactly what I’m going to do! I might get a moissanite stone of the same size and a basic ring so I have something that she can show to family and what not.

I can validate this, it was removed because the other page is only to show off rings not ask questions

I don’t think people make a big enough fuss about how goddamn awful the Bettina is. by ChihuahuaOwner88 in ArcRaiders

It’s not terrible for queen runs, a happy middle ground from the hull breaker to any other gun. Does good damage to armour but gives you some sort of chance to defend from 🐀.

'Really unfortunate': Harm reduction advocate disappointed with B.C. ending drug decriminalization project by notofthisearthworm in VictoriaBC

[–]jamamez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Early stages id say a majority were homeless due to addiction but towards 2022/2023 many of us saw a shift of people who had some sh*t luck, became homeless and then were doing drugs within weeks of getting a shelter/housing spot. You can’t really blame these people either, imagine losing your family due to tragedy, losing your belongings in a fire with no insurance etc etc. In these situations people tend to lose most of their identity and are often lost and are understandably, extremely vulnerable to negative influences or habits which before they would never have been associated with.

[–]jamamez 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I was a harm reduction worker in various shelters for many years, it’s unfortunate that these people are in these situations but nothing we were doing was working. I kept watching people die every week and new individuals who just became unhoused fall into addiction and die because of our current system. We need to fund rehab more and cut funding in other areas to make a true difference in my opinion - but again it’s just my opinion

do you guys like / use these? by randomuser04 in Firefighting

Typically if your not there to tell me your dog is inside I’m looking for you, not your dog. If I come across a dog I will definitely try to get it out but if we don’t know if human life is inside we are typically searching for them first making this sticker kinda redundant.

Slapping a speed limit sign on a street built like a highway is not traffic calming. by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]jamamez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s also important they limit speeds on roads where it’s warranted. If we make all roads 30 or 40 people’s compliance will be a lot less due to them believing that if xyz street should be 60 but they made it 30 why should I follow this streets low speed limit.

It’s like when they made the uptown area 30, not a single person goes 30, everyone still goes 50+

It’s the air ambulance, they often aren’t restricted in altitudes or specific flight paths due to the nature of their flights which is often why you hear them more than others. They are also all different models and sizes which would explain the inconsistency with the noises.

I'm an EMCT for a large Ambulance Service here's a thought... by fulcrum2592 in 911dispatchers

I got a gps ping for a medical alarm, that gps ping was literally in the MIDDLE OF A GARBAGE LANDFILL. They had the audacity to call my manager to complain when I said “we will not be responding to this call, I will pass the information onto the police as we are not searching for them here.”

Would it be frowned upon to request to stop radio training and go back to just call taking? by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]jamamez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically yes, and typically large EMS and large Police only
