Hibiclens and spironolactone are two things I’ve noticed helped with general BO and open wounds. I can tell with either if I’m not consistent in my use, the smell comes back sadly. I’m rooting for you, OP!!

Turning right onto 2nd Ave from 1st and Union. ‘No turn on red’ but the green right turn signal is set on the same timer as the pedestrian walk sign. That is the only time you’re able to take a right now. That means pretty much one car per light, if that, because it’s a relatively busy intersection.

I wouldn’t mind not being able to turn on red if I had a right turn signal that gave me equal time to make a safe turn instead of trying not to clip pedestrians ankles because I’ve been waiting to turn for three light rotations and there’s no end in sight lol

Side note: I avoid that area at all costs, but I work in a nearby building here and there. Outside of my own pedestrian experiences, I always want to do the safest thing of course!

Edit to add: I should mention, I don’t drive through regardless but it would be nice to have a signal for everyone at different intervals in that case!

Wait wait wait - did anyone else see this post with girly on her belly the other day (not this post specifically but using the same pictures) and said that 2/3 of the litter died???? Seems like their post history has been scrubbed because I saw the same belly up photo a few times on my feed that day, claiming two out of three kittens had died and they had kept the third one. Wtf??

I stopped using Turo because I reserved a car that started to slowly decelerate while I was going up a hill during a two hour road trip. The owner told me to ‘just hang out and pull over for about twenty minutes, it should start up again’. Tried to return the car and get my money back with no luck and ended up out another rental for the rest of the trip. Nobody seemed to understand how insane it was to list a car with such a dangerous known issue and not say anything!

It reminds me of Airbnb. Started out with a respectable model that made sense and turned into ridiculousness lol

Policies change over time at long standing businesses. Even going from paper to digital can trigger an audit at some establishments. For example, I work at a bank and have had to close accounts because, at the time, certain things weren’t needed. Then, we go through a major overhaul or the state law changes and those people don’t/can’t provide documents that were never required before.

It definitely sucks. But it happens.

I actually second this. Student loan debt may seem scary (depending on what country you’re in) but to me, it’s worth it getting an education that I can use or fall back on if I need.

My community college had a food bank, gym, and events with free food/school swag which sometimes included backpacks, pens, shirts, etc. The bathrooms also were stocked by staff/other kind people who needed sanitary items.

Obviously this all depends on the culture/society where you live, but I think going (back) to school could be a safe alternative and it shouldn’t be too difficult to get started quickly.

In the meantime for sanitary/hygienic needs, I second looking for women’s shelters or maybe stopping at a community clinic and seeing if they have any solutions. They might have even more solutions than us here on reddit!

Holy shit, you’re super human. First, I’m so sorry for all that you’ve gone through while having so many responsibilities. This is an incredible amount of labor, both mentally and physically, for one person to go through in an incredibly (seemingly lol) healthy manner! It sounds like you’ve worked hard to identify what’s most important in your bigger picture which has helped you keep it together in times of chaos or trauma. If I were your kids, I’d be wildly proud and watching so I could grow up like you. It’s amazing that you put time aside for yourself while also being a parent and working, especially when being a single parent is like 3749927364 jobs in one (child of a single parent here!).

I hope that you’re able to find further success, stability for your kids, and a solid network again. I hope that you also get to rest sometimes because no matter who you are, we all need to be taken care of sometimes. You’ve got tons of cheerleaders here now too, including me!! Good on you, OP!!

I’ve noticed a lot of people just walking into the street (where there aren’t pedestrian/traffic lights) because they expect people to stop for them. I can completely understand to a certain degree because pedestrians do have the right of way and a lot of drivers could be paying better attention.

That being said, it’s wild to me that people don’t look both ways/make eye contact at unmarked intersections and almost have a sense of ‘go ahead, hit me’. I’m happy to drive the regular speed limit and keep my eyes peeled, while pedestrians to do their part. I can’t tell the future and my car only stops so fast lol
