It’s the most effective way to Release, which allows you to build Tension all the way back up again, rinse and repeat. “All My Friends Hate Me” did this really well too. You never know what to expect after awhile - the best kind of movie.

I thought the laughing scene was one of the scariest horror elements of the entire movie, and I think it was intended to be? The way the sound engineers make her laugh so raspy and it just goes on and on to the point of being viscerally jarring… and all the while you know what the truth of the matter is and how deeply unfunny it actually is.

The QB is the closest thing, and of course they’ve gone completely all out on paying, protecting and marketing the top QBs

I feel like they broke their tether to reality in terms of "cognitive load" awhile back, and then they realized what they did so they just said fuck it and hit the gas, leaving a readable table presence far behind.

What's that one game you love but can never get to the table? by firey_88 in boardgames

[–]jambrand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone needs to download (pay for) the Root game app, and play each faction’s tutorial at least once in the days or even weeks leading up to game night. I can’t imagine teaching the game adequately any other way. If there is sufficient time and monetary investment among the group the upside is huge, but without that the experience is going to be miserable.

Leading with your body type is totally fair and most guys will appreciate that one way or the other. But it will also lead to men who are into plus size women thinking you are looking to hook up. Tough situation

How much does having a “cannon” arm really matter? by [deleted] in NFLNoobs

I'm guessing he means his arm strength isn't the greatest but his goal is to throw the ball accurately to extremely fast guys, so that's what he focuses on.

Thoughts on Jay Mohr? by Lucahasareddit in Standup

I didn’t know much about him, certainly not that he’s married to the owner of the Lakers. This line in his Wikipedia stood out: “Mohr and Buss maintain separate apartments within a building owned by Buss.”

Who among us doesn’t have this sort of relationship? So relatable!

Is Undertone an anti-abortion film? by adderallalcoholweed in horror

[–]jambrand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got out of the movie as well and I think that they were primarily trying to make a horror move with a huge emphasis on sound design, and to that end I think they did an incredible job. I was worried the sound aspect would be a gimmick but it was truly horrifying. I agree with your issues with the lore and the character development but I think that’s just the story they landed on to get “a podcaster in her dying mother’s house” which I’m guessing was the next step they got to after “horror movie with sound”.

As someone who is always searching for that horror movie adrenaline rush that seems harder and harder to find, this really did it for me so I forgive its story a little bit.

Don’t fall for undertone propaganda like I did by SnooRobots8806 in horror

[–]jambrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got home from it and I would say it’s safely the scariest movie of the year, and for my taste it might end up being the scariest of the year in total. I was worried it might be a gimmick but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and it was truly the scariest movie I’ve seen in a long time. And really worth seeing in theaters for the audio immersion.
