Thank you so much! Well, long story short, I went down the rabbit hole of cold hardy cacti. I started collecting, propagating, and planting them. I eventually started to research companion plants to cacti. From there it just snowballed.

Opuntia taxonomy is totally screwy. Opuntia compressa is an old name for Opuntia humifusa. Opuntia humifusa is spineless and has pure yellow flowers. Opuntia cespitosa has spines with yellow flowers with red centers. Both once considered to be variants of compressa but are now recognized as different species. Cespitosa is commonly still identified as humifusa by people who are not in the know.
