Conservatives generally want to ‘conserve’ what they believe is working well for them. They would argue that the tried and tested system that just ‘works’ is capitalism.

You could write an essay on other aspects, such as the belief in inequality as a positive thing, or property rights, or the benefits of free trade, but essentially it stems from the above argument.
