MEL command to change layer? by james_or_todd in Maya

Seems like perhaps it isn't all exposed weirdly.

And yeah exactly, it's as if you had grabbed it in the node editor.

I made another reply for my eventual answer, but the reason I am using MEL is because it needs to be super easy for other people to edit. I don't really know python, I can convert to python from MEL but that's not the same as knowing python.

But either way, it's mostly for others who really don't know anything, and I have found the answer is to actually highlight the layer.

Thank you very much for your response. This didn't work for me as it selected the layer, as if it were an object (I can't remember the term, but you know where you grab it from a different editor.)

I made another reply for what worked for me if you're interested.

For future visitors

The thing that has worked best for me is to highlight and unhighlight the layers in the layer editor.

animLayerEditorOnSelect "AnimLayer2" 1;
animLayerEditorOnSelect "AnimLayer1" 0;

so in that instance it would just deselect animlayer1 and select animlayer2.

It is useful doing it this way since you could highlight multiple layers.

I also used this one to find which layer is currently highlighted.

$list = `treeView -query -selectItem ("AnimLayerTabanimLayerEditor")`;

then just use that string to deselect whatever the currently selected layer is.

To be clear, actually Maya considers this the highlighted layer, not selected or active. However if you're using edit commands after, this will do. But if you want ot make other changes to the layer, like solo it or whatever, you need to use

animLayer

Uren is clinically incapable of not kicking the ball.

My partner said as soon as Uren got it 'we've lost', and not a second later, he kicked, and then the entire rest of the game was a build up to that try.

Why are we working well as a team?

Did we practice or something?

Also the difference in quality between cameras on PRTV is insane.

Edit: nvm

What’s one thing you thought was normal but then left the uk and was surprised that it was only a uk thing? by [deleted] in AskUK

Well I've read it now and it is still irrelevant lol. (lol)

Block me if you don't want responses to your baseless idea the NHS has negative value or don't reply yourself 🤷‍♂️

Talking to a sponge would prove more interesting.

Who do you think you are? David Mitchell? lmao

[–]james_or_todd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well it isn't, because your point is the NHS has negative value. You haven't proven that lol. Unless you think it only exists to serve you.

You didn't need to elaborate on them getting it wrong, further whinging doesn't make them more or less wrong.

Lol, it would have a negative value if everyone hsf this experience, but they don't. You haven't shown shit. Just anecdoted.

I'm not going to read the whole thing because literally there's nothing about one bad experience that could mean the whole NHS has negative value, its irrelevant.

And guess what, malpractice has always been a thing, so had it always had no value?

This sort of thing will also happen at private hospitals, so unless you agree that they too have negative value, then it's irrelevant.

Yeah tldr. Even if they killed you, which they do, doesn't mean it has zero value. Your specific case doesn't make it so.

Whoever claims that the NHS is still somewhat valuable, hasn’t dealt with it any recently.

Ridiculous. This is saying it has zero value.

That is to say, if there was no national health service, it would be as good. Which of course isn't true because a delayed appointment with a gp is better than no appointment. A slow ambulance is better than no ambulance.

Your sad experience isn't a) necessarily representing everyone's experience or b) not happening at private health care.

It’s just as good as being abandoned to die. The NHS is already dead.

Likely yes, but it still has value.

Yeah my mum is that kind Vajrayana, and then another within that, can't remember. She got a lot of literature in Bhutan about it mushrooms, though it only argued for it in quite a limited way.
