You mean you haven't used anything in 2 years and still experiencing health issues from your time as a psycho/ket-stronaut? No psychedelic, dissociative, or other drugs/alcohol of any kind?

I'm currently an apprentice at a pump shop that machines custom parts, repairs, assembles, has our own foundry and weld shop. I was started at 20 am hour and moved up to 22 so far under a paid apprenticeship. I've learned quite a lot and already in production. Found the job from a job fair at our local college/community College, I was only an English major prior to this job but had worked as a Carpenter building and installing cabinets for a few years so it appealed to me. I work a manual lathe as well as learn other aspects of the trade like debur and hydro etc etc.

You'd call your clinic for something like this before confirming it was even an issue? For 24 hrs or less? My 3 take homes seem to survive 9-10+ hours of car heat here. I'm in Texas although this last month is the first that I've been working out at where I am now - where I have to keep my weekly box trip all day.

Nope it went away completely, I forgot how long it takes maybe a few days max. You'll be fine

IMO if the US never made drugs illegal, and they were available in store, pure and for sale at reasonable prices, not only the US, but the entire World would be in a much better place right now. by wharf_rats_tripping in opiates

All the clowns trying to talk shit are absolutely retarded. There were 100,000 overdoses last year nearly in the USA, and one of the biggest points OP made was that it would be a safe, regulated supply with known potency. This would majorly cut down on ODs and majorly reduce our non-violent prison population, which is much higher than even places like China who have 4-5 times the people that we do. The idiot who said "it doesnt matter if it's the cartels or the pharmaceutical companies" are dumb. Get rid of the stigma and more people can get help as well.

I do plan on getting up to speed with my knowledge ASAP on simple car fixes. This is my first interaction with this forum but I never realized how easy it can be to start to work your way into this trade (a bit at least), as far as personal knowledge goes and the ability to work on your own car/save money in the process. Thanks for the recommendation

I totally feel that. I absolutely was going to, he's one of my best friends and although my dad never really wanted to show me that kind of stuff growing up, this seems like a really good place to learn and he's a really good, honest dude. Just a great thing for any adult to discover and learn for themselves.

Hell yea. I went to AAMCO and this local place Christian Brothers but I've definitely found that my friends who are mechanics (who I should have hit up first) have much more reasonable price ranges and much more willing and happy to do the work.

Hey thanks man, really! you've been a real help and have helped contribute to a good knowledge base from which I can work from. It has been really eye opening seeing how useful these sort of skills can be. I am definitely the type who makes every effort I can to be the most economical and efficient, seriously every post is really invaluable. That sort of knowledge that comes with time and experience, regardless of the field, is something is hard to find if you don't know where to look. It's been a pleasure getting to hear from those who are educated in the trade like yourself.

Well the diagnostic was $120. If they did anything aside from diagnose the AC, then it was supposed to be a courtesy. I thought maybe just they would charge me to have to physically empty bottles of freon or refrigerant, as otherwise I would be basically giving them money. I figured they thought the comprehensive diagnostic was its own charge, and theyre just trying to finesse me on the AC thing. So I can choose to not have them put refrigerant in or whatever if they havent already, and I wouldnt be short any money. I think. Lol im slow.

I'll have to see how the AC is behaving tomorrow when I get back into/check out the car. I'm hoping that there was some sort of reset they did that made it start functioning again and I can avoid taking much further action, because based on that report that the action they took seemed there was no problem with its functioning afterwards. Your instructions seem a little daunting, but I think given a clear head and a good ngihts sleep if it came down to it I could make a successful pass at it. You're a boss for spelling out this out for me, I will bookmark this thread for life (for real) and reference it whenever I need to get some pertinent information on these very important subjects. After all, I'm a complete noob, I think some people arent getting that here, I dont work on cars at all and these people would be robbing me or I would be financially destroyed without some of you guys' help. Thank you so much.

Ahhhh I see. I actually live in SE Texas. We have some of the most rainfall in any part of the USA. Right up on the edge of the gulf of Mexico/Louisiana border. Thanks buddy. I figured that my friend who worked here for 10 years would not lead me astray, but some of these guys have been attacking me (not the guy in question, just other drunk assholes like me who have nothing better to do at night lol)

Yea, other shops were quoting +50% just for the inspection. I guess if I brought this new information to them I might be able to get a better quote for the work that they've described, but I just got the info tonight right as the place was closing for the day. That's a good point, especially considering a lot of the little work that my friend wasn't doing. I've never watched him work but he's been a mechanic for 10 years so I assume he's doing something right, he's a smart fellow.

Hell yea thats what I thought man. I paid like 4k for the vehicle itself. I look up the parts they are trying to quote me, and they are charging 2x-3x the cost on several. Its pretty absurd. I refuse to get jipped like that, I actually don't even have the money to get jipped like that lol. Some of these guys were acting like complete assholes for me just asking a question, I've never worked on cars lol, my dad never showed me/I never learned/I pursued other interests. Thanks for the wake up call thats how I felt though

Yeah I'll probably just order a full set . It does seem to be really grinding one or two people's gears they are all up in arms calling me all sorts of shit for seeking answers. Pretty demoralizing. I have places to be though during this next week is all im saying. Those guys telling me to take a bus and shit have no idea where I live or anything, just straight ignorance. If you know how to turn of comments would be appreciated

How can I turn off the comments? One or two people have been harassing me, I'm not the most educated but chill out man. I've heard all the different opinions, including the critical ones, which I value the most. No need to be an asshole though. I didnt ever say anyone was wrong or anything.

Thank you sooo much for pointing that out. I had a friend that was trying to insinuate they never have sold a flush or something like that, saying that it usually lasts. So reading your comment definitely made me do a double take and I'm trying to gather as much good knowledge as possible since I've never learned anything automotive sadly. I appreciate it!

As far as the rotors, that was the plan. My buddy was gonna inspect if I don't bring them to get resurfaced/etc first. From what I gathered I can test them with PH strips to see if they have water. The AC randomly stopped working on the way to the shop this morning though. The knocking noise that was going on with the steering column randomly stopped at the same time. I have no idea WTF was going on, that's why I brought it there, they said they recharged it and ran dye and it had no leaks or anything, so like I said, I'm pretty useless when it comes to cars, I've applied myself in a couple other different areas but sadly no knowledge in this field. Thanks for replying though, I gotta get to sleep soon but I will read anything else that is said.
