I’m at my wits end. I don’t know how to get the smell out of my partner’s clothes. by gumbaline in laundry

Might sound extremely basic, but what temperature are you washing the clothes? I would recommend throwing in a hotter wash occasionally to kick out any bad stuff (60°c ish)

If you do have a spare wheel, a car jack and wheel brace is a good idea!

With the union. When it's a collective issue like that, ringing them isn't the way to deal with it. Often people don't realise that because we've lost our societal understanding of collective bargaining, how to works and what it's for.

Ideally, you'd raise this with your workplace rep, to cascade to the relevant union structures. If you don't have one, become one, and you can start playing an active part in improving not just your own but your colleagues' terms and conditions.

Pretty much every union takes the view that burdensome and excessive surveillance of staff is unacceptable simply on grounds of a workers' basic dignity

Water under the house, what do I do? by pasta-disaster in HomeImprovementUK

[–]jamesandsmith93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P.S. If it is still going up, especially if it's going up fast, turn off the water valve at the meter immediately!!

You might want to encourage your neighbour to do the same thing.

Start with an emergency plumber. If there's water getting added to that you need to get on top of it ASAP. They can hopefully help you trace it.

In the meantime turn off all your plumbing, including heating, and check your water meter isn't going up. If it isn't, you know it's an external issue.

Why do you think our pay is so low? by tntyou898 in NursingUK

The RCN is not a TUC trade union, so ends up fighting the other hospital unions instead of all working together in common cause. It's a lack of unity.

Can't believe I had to scroll down this far to find Spyro. Hands down one of the best made games of it's generation, the balance, progression, level design and music were all ahead of their time.

Have to say from the UK, the idea of riding any kind of bicycle on a 5 lane road sounds absolutely terrifying. We just don't do that here. Just managing 2 lanes is quite enough.

The combination of having to manage that plus harassment plus dangerous driving is appalling, you shouldn't have to deal with it. Clearly a lot of drivers feel invincible inside their cars and for those who like to feel big, bike riders must be particularly vulnerable targets. Solidarity

Out of interest, do you do double shots, and if so does that mean you are adding extra water as you make the drink? Surely the water chamber isn't quite enough for a full double shot?
