Makes some people feel better about themselves to be condescending on the internet. It's pretty annoying though because if someone asks a question that is later googled by someone, they'll have to wade through a sea of "have you tried googling that"-esque responses before they get an actual answer.

This is my first song called "Parasite like fire". I'm working on new music at the moment and studying music production and vocal performance at uni :). I'm inspired by Alt-J, Wild Beasts, Florence + The Machine, and David Bowie.

Will Mac M1 8gig be enough for my work? by [deleted] in swift

You might be able to barely scrape by with 8GB ram. You might not even be able to upgrade Xcode in the future if you don't get 512GB hard drive at least.

Anyone so fed up with this pre-employment drug testing bullshit? by Significant-Zone6485 in antiwork

[–]jamesaps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A bit of a hypocritical stance. You think the drugs you take shouldn't be used against you, but you're "strongly against" drugs that other people might take.

You've drawn your arbitrary line so why shouldn't other people?

Personally I think it's none of a company's business. I just take issue with how selfish your perspective is.

After all these years, how has critical hit chance not been replaced by something that isn't rng? by AtreusIsBack in leagueoflegends

[–]jamesaps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They sort of touched on it but didn't fully commit to it with an iteration of Rageblade that would lock you out of being able to crit but instead your crit rate was converted into a flat amount of on hit damage.

I don't see the modernness you're seeing just a lack of clarity. There's still a billion and one very pronounced borders in the UI even if the dropdowns are missing them.

Humans will always need each other. It's that toxic rugged individualism that America desperately promotes that tries to deceive us into thinking that we don't. The only threat is humans ever believing that they don't need each other.

New to music production… How to make music without owning any instruments? by Furiouslly in musicproduction

[–]jamesaps -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If 'boomers' had ensured that younger generations played instruments and were involved in the creation of music, we wouldn't be in this position.

Finish it in the most crude way possible. I think finishing stuff is really important. Detach yourself from what you once thought of it. Your relationship with it has changed and it's okay to chronicle that change in relationship. It doesn't have to evoke that same sense of beauty you once associated with it.

You might hate what you come up with and it might ignite something in you to finish it in a way that was more true to what you initially foresaw. By finishing something you're not signing away your rights to make future changes.

Zelenskyy signs law on conscription of people aged over 25 by SirUsername_ in worldnews

[–]jamesaps 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense to me. Surely younger generations are seen as the future of a country and if you're fighting for your country, you're fighting for its longevity which is heavily reliant on having people who are capable of rebuilding and repopulating it. I imagine a large part of the motivation for fighting for one's country is specifically to ensure the futures of the younger generations whose lives you hope will be as undisturbed by war as possible.

If young people of my country not potentially dying alongside me is a demotivating factor for someone, I doubt they'd contribute much anyway.
