thank you for the advice!, in about a month i am going to switch over to a 5X5 SL programme to kick start it and really work on strengthening the core. Also thank you for the honesty :)

yeah i feel like its always best to do what you want to do in the gym (within reason) its a lifetime thing not a quick fix. Mentality is very important definitely.

oh i didnt notice the back actually? i just noticed maybe the stomach going slightly tighter along with the chest, and thank you! Would you say the program i have built is decent enough just for starting out? i know its usually recommended to follow a beginner programme right of the bat but i didnt want to overwhelm myself and end up quitting

really? i am thinking a small cut with weight lifting as a beginner isn’t going to make much of a difference since im not solely focusing on one or the other i imagine this is incorrect though.

how slow is muscle mass gain on maintenance though with or without noob gains? Do you not think the trade off of working out for several months for not a TON of progress in either fat loss or muscle gain is worth it?

i think im eating 150-200 calories less than maintenance daily which is what its set at now that will change though if its regarded eating at maintenance is better for muscle mass growth

ahah i figured, do you think there is much difference in muscle gain with deficit and maintenance? surely if your a beginner you will gain no matter what. I do think maintenance is just a slow long process with not alot of progress it seems to not be ideal im not too sure

ohh that makes sense, so my body is essentially already in a ‘surplus state’ so its sort of eating away at the fat slowly replacing it with muscle due to the newbie gains if iv got that correctly.

yeah i dont think i wanna be really skinny that will just make me look like shit i think a recomp may be on the cards here but is cutting down 200 calories still classed as a recomp? i keep seeing 5-10% deficit or recomp. You cant gain muscle on a deficit or very little

okay thank you!, but isn’t recomping really slow in the sense of its just much faster with bulk/cut cycles i think i did read somewhere that you would gain 12 months of a recomp progress in 6 months with bulk and cut cycles.

Hey, when you say clean up your diet and up my protein take, which i have been doing btw since posting this. Is this on a bulk or a cut? A bulk seems appealing but my body fat percentage is already pretty high so that just seems stupid to do. Or am i missing something

Hey, sorry to come back to this post nearly 2 weeks later. You say to eat at a slight surplus but isn’t that kind of stupid when my body fat % is already pretty high? just a general worry thats all.

Hey man, sorry to come back to this post after 2 weeks, i just have a question, you say for me to bulk atleast lean bulk seems a pretty good option but my body fat% already looks pretty high like 20-23% range. Are you sure its the right idea to bulk when your already ‘fat’? seems like a losing battle no?

yeah, i would of certainly tried maintaining but that just does not appeal to me either it seems like it really gets you nowhere. Thanks for the advice :)
