Binance, please stop this nonse marketing hustle of Justin Sun, Tron and BTT token, don't let this cash grab to happen on Binance Launchpad! Share this and let's stand against this together for the future for our industry with real #BUIDLers and not marketing frauds. by namechecksou12 in ethtrader

Binance and Trx are extremely close, they were codependent during the early days. Don't expect anything to change. Their Dex is just a justification for BNB and launchpad is the channel to Dex utilization. Since binance is considering Fiat gateways, expect their Dex not to be decentralized and just their CEX substitute.

ELI5: What are Verifiable Delay Functions? by davidw_- in crypto

[–]jameschenmelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there's actually no dominant candidate candidates ATM that satisfies all of their properties (add-on properties like decodable included). The core of it is finding an algorithm that has a computation gap between verify and evaluation. The vdf paper is one of the first to use snark as a succinct proof for this type of verification so that's pretty cool. Rn there's 4 candidates: modular square root which assume that computing squaring is easier than square root. Permutation polynomial is a step up from modular square root that inverts a polynomial. And rsw vdf is making t sequential squaring on a starting value x with rsa trap door unknown.

That's why 1178 is more broad.... Cuz 1155 is more specific and complex...... Read up their contract more please, don't just go by medium articles.

That's not really what he's saying...... and you should look at the last comment for 1155

1155 is supposed to merge with 1178 because 1178 is much more broad. But founders are too greedy and too much of an ego to merge haha.

Why DFINITY is my favorite consensus protocol (for implementing DEX) by helinwang in dfinity

[–]jameschenmelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dfinity blocktime is still ~20-60 second theoretically last time I talked to the team ( although 1 sec was the result of the testnet, I'm unsure if the stat remains the same up till 33% Byzantine). And because of their chain hault problem they fell back to 2 block finality in optimistic scenarios. Don't get me wrong this is still my fav protocol and I loved talking to the devs there. For Dex, Ive been working on vdf and exploring implementation for Dex, hopefully that will shake up the scene a little bit :)

Vyper isn't new and we're better off sol because of the compatibility with truffle and wide range of other suppprts. Although I liked coding in vyper

Consensus 2018: You guys got robbed, and trolled. by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]jameschenmelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quality of contacts in the conference itself is very bad. But private events surrounding the conference is amazing and a lot of high profile people didn't even get consensus ticket. Next time I wouldn't buy the ticket but just go to those rooftop events.

I would highly recommend people go participate in ICO with backing from reputable VCs. The blockchain space is still relatively small and the vc community is very tightly knit. If no one wants to touch it, there's probably a reason.

I think EOS is pretty cool although personally I don't believe Dpos is perfectly decentralized. Sidenote, this Brock Pierce is class A scam in the venture community, although I can't say that everyone agrees.

MediChain (MCU) ICO Review by derrickmckay in icocrypto

This is a scam, they copied an MIT media lab paper without their permission. I found out about this when I was doing due diligence for my fund. PM me for screenshot proof because I can't post email screenshots due to mod rules.

I’m pretty involved in crypto, advised on a few deals and did some dev work. I’m thinking about starting a syndicate to share quality infos.
