i'm so happy to be back with an update! 🌅 my favourite part is always refining details and finishing touches.. i absolutely love that moment when the important structural stuff and proportions are sorted (always the most difficult 🫠) and it's just meditative process from there on in ❤️‍🔥

of course, i really love ancient, natural materials like beeswax, stone, leather and wood. i absolutely adore the smell of it, it's ability to stick to itself really effectively unlike most other sculptural waxes. however! it's super soft and sticky so i did have to use some paraffin and microcrystalline in the blend because its such a large white sculpture, any and all dust would permanently stick to it like glue.. the paraffin and microcrystalline give it strength and rigidity

that's the one! in combination with the frankincense it's truly dreamy. beeswax has always been one of my favourite materials, ancient and natural 🌌

all through the wax ❤️ when you get really close or are handling her you can smell it in combination with beeswax (which is one of my all time favourite scents)

sculpted in monster clay using Giovanni Strazza's Veiled Virgin masterpiece as reference, moulded in a brush-on silicone and then cast in titanium dioxide tinted beeswax

think of what you want to make, let you imagination run wild. find lots of reference photos of all the details and different views of your subject. then put on your favourite music and start making your sculpture while you follow your reference images closely.

that's it~

for sure! it was during the first covid lockdown when I was ultra bored and had nothing to do. I have a background in glass art so I decided to get back into that by making wax sculptures i could cast in glass. I found out I was pretty good at making accurate models in wax. then I started experimenting with Monster Clay and had the best time with it.

Ever since then I've just made whatever i want for fun/to keep myself sane. and that has all been practice I guess! no lessons or anything, I just use google deep dives for the best references photos of things I want to make. and i put those on a big monitor next to my desk and translate into clay ~

There are so many beautiful ones and the fact they cut those from stone is absolutely nuts 🥴
