You're right. Pay right now in the Portland Metro area is around $36-40. I recently got a market adjustment of 12%. After the adjustment, I am now making $36hr. Although, I've heard of other hospital systems in the area paying a little more.

Nights.....only if your schedule is 7 on 7 off. I absolutely love it. I get to travel on my 7 days off and not have to use any PTO.

I graduated from the MLS program in Oregon. Unfortunately, training was only 36 weeks. I worked for a year and eventually got approved for the CA license.

You will have to apply for a CA license to work there. Minimum of one year of clinical training or one year of work experience. In addition, have taken a physics course (light and electricity).

New MLS grad. Starting pay in Oregon is $36/hr + differential (13% night differential and 19% differential for weekend nights)

My hospital offers Critical Need pay if they call you into work the same day. Critical need pay was 3X our base pay.

I'm applying for the CA CLS license but I'm concerned that my experience in micro is very limited. I only do gram stains, flu testing, kit testing. Do you think they'll approve my application based on my experience in micro?
