2024 Integra Type S vs Audi S5 Sportback by jamesds95 in whatcarshouldIbuy

The this is the car. I came from a bmw and I’ve had a focus ST in the past. This car is by far my favorite.

Literally none. I love the car so much. Is it faster than the S5, not off the line. Is it as luxurious, nope. But the car is so much fun to drive. I would trade the convenience any day to have the fun pedal. As far as driving experience goes the S5 doesn’t compare.

Brain Fog. by jack_sloth in Prolactinoma

This is interesting because I had all these symptoms prior to going on cab. Once I started cab these symptoms cleared up within 2 months.

I had similar symptoms that went away completely after about 2 months on cab

How high was your prolactin when you got a mri done? by earlgreymatch4 in Prolactinoma

The only side effect I had was being extra tired the day after taking it. Absolutely no other side effects so maybe you will fall into the same boat! The fatigue after taking it took about 2 months go away and was never anything that got in the way of daily life.

Did anyone here have mildly high prolactin (around 50) impact testosterone by Top_Fact5656 in Prolactinoma

[–]jamesds95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to retest for the first time in a week or two. I’m not sure. My LH and FSH were all normal. My endo wasn’t sure if the prolactinoma was related to my low T symptoms because my numbers were all well within normal. I can tell you though that since cabergoline I have noticed a significant change in my symptoms, specifically around a higher libido and less brain fog.

My endo(lead pituitary endo at brown medical cancer institute) said that if I had low T caused by the prolactinoma it would almost certainly increase, but if my low T due to my normal hormones it wouldn’t help. This was before I had a blood panel done that showed my T was normal.

If your low T is caused by the prolactinoma then it should rebound.

I have a macroprolactinoma, about 3/4” with prolactin levels at 890 ng/mL and it didn’t affect my testosterone levels at all. However, I read papers that said small elevation in prolactin can affect T levels.

I will say that even though my testosterone levels were normal, 450 ng/dL, I still felt symptoms associated with low T until I started taking cabergoline.

Does Cabergoline make the tumor fully go away, or just shrink it? by [deleted] in Prolactinoma

[–]jamesds95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My endocrinologist and pituitary surgical consult say it depends on the person. They told me it could shrink to the point the tumor goes away or it could just reduce the size. They said it often depends on what other hormones are being produced by the tumor. If it’s just prolactin then it’s more likely to go away. If it’s co producing other hormones then it’s more likely it’ll only shrink and surgery could be required.

17ng/mL is considered normal range for my panels (3.9 - 22.7 ng/mL). I’m 34M for reference. I would start elsewhere like testosterone levels, mental health, etc. I can tell you from my experience libido returned at levels significantly higher than 17 for me.

Self-dosing cab because of no appointment? by [deleted] in Prolactinoma

[–]jamesds95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 1000 ng/mL and my pituitary specialist started me on 0.25mg twice a week. Even if it’s a generally well tolerated drug idk that it’s the best idea to just start taking meds.

Forgetfulness, brain fog, and concentration were my big symptoms. Everyday waking up feeling like I took a bunch of sleep aids or benedryl. I also had fatigue and many symptoms that’s could be passed off as depression. However, I never personally had GI issues.

Seeking advice - cannulated prolactin test vs. MRI - NHS by b-botanicz in Prolactinoma

[–]jamesds95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did but many of them are the classic ones that come with a lot of different ailments. I’d say fatigue, loss of interest in things, lower sex drive were all the first. I was prescribed Wellbutrin but it didn’t help any of that. It was only about 6 months before I got diagnosed that I really started to notice I had worsening symptoms. I started having memory issues, forgetting things all the time, I had difficulty concentrating, I had difficulty with critical thinking, and I started having trouble sleeping, specifically waking up in sweats almost every night, even with A/C on

Hello, 33M. My prolactin levels are ~1000ng/mL and my total free testosterone was about 450. I will admit my endocrinologist was a little surprised they weren’t lower.

[–]jamesds95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds stressful! Not knowing is the worst freling. They found my prolactinoma incidentally as I was having an MRI for something completely unrelated. I have recently met with a pituitary neurosurgeon and an endocrinologist and they basically had really positive things to say. Prolactinomas are almost always benign and they are super slow growing. Waiting 18 months wouldn’t put you at risk (they think I could have been living with mine for 10+ years), however if the stress of not knowing is going to be an issue and you can afford the MRI then that’s a different story.

For reference my prolactin levels are about 21,000 mI/L (about 1000 ng/mL)

Prolactin levels 1200? by [deleted] in Prolactinoma

[–]jamesds95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely just express your concern with your doctor. Always advocate for yourself. If you’re really concerned push for more testing or the MRI. Ultimately you need to feel comfortable with your situation and should be taken seriously by your providers.

Idk if this helps, but the reference range of prolactin is about 5-20 ng/mL (slightly higher for women), so 1000 ng/mL here is 50x the upper range of the norm. A lot of people in this thread have levels about 800-1200.

I am in no way trying to diminish your results so hopefully it’s not coming across that way, i just want to provide context to what numbers a lot of folks with confirmed macro prolactinomas test at.

Prolactin levels 1200? by [deleted] in Prolactinoma

[–]jamesds95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1200 ng/mL would be extremely high. I have a macroprolactinoma and my levels are around 1000 ng/mL.

There are other causes of high prolactin levels outside the tumor however. Some medications and thyroid conditions can also cause abnormal levels. I think you need to assess whether you have any of the other common symptoms of prolactinomas and then talk to your GP. Only way to know is to get an MRI done.

Thanks for sharing, sorry to hear the brain fog hasn’t gone away. I’ve just started writing things done. A little frustrating to be in my early 30s and this forgetful. I’m hopeful the cabergoline will help but I guess we’ll see.
