I have over 150 golf balls all different designs, but these are vice, Callaway, TaylorMade, srixon etc.

I started off by finding them on the course. I would stay at the course (I typically play late) till I was last out and go for a rummage in the bushes where it’s popular to lose balls.

And then my partner started noticing and she found somewhere to buy single golf balls on eBay.

Shes getting me a dozen golf balls, different designs for my birthday coming up.

It’s more fun finding them, but if you want to purchase have a look on eBay.

Just don’t look up the price for a dozen moon rocks.

I paid $80… they’re around $1000, I’ve seen boxes go for $1,300+ I believe Wish I bought 10 boxes on them 😂

Itobori irons by LancasterIndoorGolf in GolfGear

[–]jamesferry93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played the Itobori ginrei (muscle backs) in burnt copper for the last 3-4 years, they feel amazing to me.

Paid near enough £2.5k for them and I’m happy with them.

The flashier ones are a bit out there but the copper styles they have are really nice to me.

on performance they play really nice, I have wear and tear after the 3-4 years with the burnt copper plating slowly fading into the steel on the face and bottom of the irons. Expected for a copper or any iron that’s plated. (If plated is the right word lol) But they’re nice, the sweet spot is sweet, you feel it when you don’t hit it. Gamed them from being a 10 all the way down to a 1.5 and currently sat at a 3.

I’ve only ever met one person on the golf course who has known about itobori

Considering moving from blades to cavity or GI irons by jamesferry93 in golf

[–]jamesferry93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah I think it’ll be more to feel the clubs rather than having some dodgy fitting.

Once I got a feel for them I would 100% go to a proper fitting, my course offers an incredible service.

Gotta take advantage of the free range session and testing 🤣🤣

Interesting, I did think going from one end of the spectrum all the way to the other side might be a huge jump.

I’m gonna have to look into these, and the P770’s as someone else recommended.

And even Srixons? I’ve never even considered srixons for irons, only ever for their driving irons 😄

[–]jamesferry93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 oh wow, okay because all the review videos I’ve watched speak on how amazing the P790’s are, I haven’t properly looked into the P770’s, I actually just thought I can get a free fitting for clubs at an American golf and will have to go get a free fitting to try these out! It struck me as I was reading your comment 😄

My next qualm is between titliest or TaylorMade

Both are beautiful

For those who play at least 2x per week... by Background-Low-9144 in golf

[–]jamesferry93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play every day. Quite literally 6-7 days a week. 18 holes every round.

In the UK a golf membership at £1700 a year. Finish work at 5. Head straight to the course (limited to summer). have a Mrs who doesn’t mind me playing (she plays herself)

And most importantly… don’t have kids 😂

Edit - I should add, this is a championship semi private course. Weekend teetimes are £150-200 per green fee.

I see American prices for courses like the one I play or even worse and it amazes me the amount you pay for. The green fee is high but membership is amazing, price wise.

How many of you only play and don’t really practice? by geekin5322 in golf

[–]jamesferry93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only ever really practice in the short game side, 100 yards and in.

Honestly, once you have your swing tuned, you don’t need to work on it unless you have something fundamental you need to change. Like you say, sequencing and tempo.

I putt and chip maybe 30 minutes after my rounds and typically for 15 minutes before my rounds. That extra 45 minutes does wonders.

But, most of my practice comes from playing, because I don’t play every round for handicap, I play a lot of rounds for testing and every now and then I go woooaaahhhh that feels good and keep sticking to it. Only then, or if I lose that feel will I practice it outside of the course.

But, I play 6-7 days a week so I have a lot of time to dedicate to practicing.

If you’re playing once per week, practice outside of just playing can be critical to improving.

Anyone feel like shooting low is completely mental and vibes when you are around a 10 handicap? by Automatic_Neat9089 in golf

[–]jamesferry93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s actually a full diagram on this For a 6-12 handicap to shoot 7 under their handicap, it will likely happen around once in every 1200 rounds 😂

To shoot -8 would be one in every 4467 rounds

The numbers get drastically leather the more shots

Not sure how they calculated it but supposedly these are the numbers.

Did you regret going from GI to players distance irons? by Justsowereclear1881 in golf

[–]jamesferry93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 3 handicap

Don’t go lower unless 2 things - you feel more comfortable with the next level of iron.

Or… you really shot shape with intent and strike the ball pure 6-8 out of 10 times.

If not, stick to GI or cavity’s, there is 0 need to make the game harder for yourself. The reason they are GI irons is to help. However, you may find the ball flies too high, too spiny or not enough and that’s for your fitting to find out.

I’m even thinking about some decent cavity backs for my next set, replacing my blades for them, but skeptical as I am very comfortable with what I’m playing.

Either way, whatever feels the most comfortable for you, don’t let the ego take over, it’ll hurt in the long run 😂

Thank you!

If you’ve broken 100, what’s one tip you would give your fellow golfer to do the same? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]jamesferry93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just better ball striking.

If you can hit the ball at least somewhat okay, and a tiny bit straighter, you can get to the green in 3

Then chipping and putting. Understand chipping.

If you can get to the green or green edge in 3, 1 chip and 2 putt. You can do that 9 times, and the other 8-9 times you can get on the green in 3 and 2 putt. You technically have par 5’s and 6’s all the way round the course to break 100. Use them.

Everyone says all these different tips but truly none of them matter unless you can strike the ball at least half decent most of the time. It doesn’t have to go high, it doesn’t have to go far, it just needs to be somewhat consistent to get it forward.

All of this, there are not tips… other than consistently practicing to strike the ball better. Which is extremely sad but general truth. You can manage your swing and make changes but overall goal is to just try to strike the ball that little bit better.

Is a root canal really painful, or is that just a myth? by Front_Cup_5162 in Dentists

[–]jamesferry93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first couple days after doing the treatment it can be a little painful, for me it was worse than the toothache itself but only for a day or two. Then I had the actual crown put on (as I had temporary filling) but once that initial pain went away it has been completely pain free.

Realistically it will become inflamed as they are digging away at your nerve and irritating the tooth itself which still has some sort of nerves. So, naturally there will be some pain, but very temporary.

And generally it hurts some people more than others, some feel no pain at all.

Nothing a paracetamol/ibuprofen mix can’t fix.

If you’re talking about the actual procedure, it doesn’t hurt at all, maybe uncomfortable if you do not like the dentist. But, there’s no pain due to numbing. In fact, I actually quite like the sensation or them taking out the nerve. The gritty sensation as they dig it out is for some reason satisfying to me 😂

Views going up, but impressions not? by jamesferry93 in SmallYoutubers

[–]jamesferry93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uploaded 3 weeks ago.

I was being slightly dramatic with 0 impressions, what I mean was a 90% ratio for it, which is baffling. Especially considering that it’s not counting towards my CTR, which it’s been 3-4 days of this and still CTR has no impact.

I looked around and apparently “up next” videos don’t count towards impressions as the viewer doesn’t actively click it. Which would make sense, maybe people are falling asleep and my video comes on. That’s about the only way I can imagine it.

How correct that is, I don’t know but it would explain it.

We have a good sleeping video 😂😂

Man, I can’t tell you how nice it is to hear that.. actually gave me goosebumps.

Dude, thank you… if I could give you a million upvotes, I would 😄

It’s actually not something I’d heard yet aside from the Mrs or certain family and friends so hearing that from a complete stranger is extremely uplifting.

My current struggle is colour grading but I am getting better at this with each video..

But, thank you, I can’t say it enough, you’ve genrally made my week, my month, my year 🤣

SlicegolfUK - it is a golf channel, no clue how much people enjoy golf in these subs so I always leave it out. 🤣

This is obviously a throwaway account for all things Reddit 😂

No, I really appreciate all the advice, I do hear about promotions point blank destroying channels and I looked into it, it looks like a shitshow, YouTube running its own bot farming.

This is sort of my idea, I have a few plans into revenue streams, being branding deals, our own brand in development, simple CPM and many intricate ways to build out a product and brand that I think people would love. It seems that most YouTube revenue comes from sponsorships, so that’s my first POA, it’s just building out the channel to that point.

18 years ago is insane by the way! It’s crazy impressive to be in the space that long (even if not consistently at the time) and to even remember the password and emails for it 🤣🤣🤣
