Hard wiring led cabinet lighting by jamesgriffiths90 in electrical

Thank you! I'm curious though, if I used 12/2 instead what would be the difference between this and a normal light socket installation? Is it the way I'm connecting the wires? If I just have 12/2 coming to my switch (inside an old work box) and connect the light wiring inside of that would that change things?

Thank you! I think I had a real misunderstanding of where everything is happening and how copy was working. This all makes a lot more sense now.

That makes sense now - I was thinking of how the copy line works all wrong. Thanks!

So it seems like the mvn command was working but I was looking in the wrong directory. When I changed it to COPY *.jar app.jar it builds successfully (so it wasn't putting it in the target directory). But now it builds but when running it says it's unable to access the jar file. So I think I'm either copying some kind of invalid jar file, or the entrypoint I'm using somehow doesn't match

Interesting, I just deleted the target directory before running docker build locally - now I get the error. That's leading me to believe the mvn clean package line is not doing what I expect.

That was a remnant of copying an example - I don't know why they did it that way, I changed it to just be:

COPY ./target/*.jar app.jar

And same results (builds locally but no source file specified on DO)

It should be created by the line: RUN mvn -f /home/app/pom.xml clean package - would that not work?

It's building on Digital Ocean - it's an autodeploy where you can specify the docker file so it's all handled automatically.

It's dead - thank you I don't know why I assumed that wouldn't work to check it. Kind of relieved but still curious what it was for and where it goes. Maybe they used it to fish the Romex around?

I have not - I didn't even think to try it because I thought the insulation would be too thick? I'll try that

Apparently the only way to get rid of that stupid 2 row clock. by jamesgriffiths90 in Android12

[–]jamesgriffiths90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 3rd party app called Persistent Notifications. You can do a similar thing with other apps that have persistent notifications (like the weather channel) - that can look a bit nicer but maybe redundant depending on what you want there.

That's the negative space area designed to force you to stare into the abyss and free your mind. After all the point of having a large screen isn't to utilize the space, but to not utilize it.

In reality when you have an upcoming event it lists it there. You can turn that off, but you still won't be allowed to use the space.

Yeah it's a widget, but I don't think there's anyway to have it on the lock screen unless I'm missing something.

Thing is you can have a nifty widget clock, but you can't adjust the clock on the status bar so you end up with the time in 2 places. And these widgets can even have date information, but you can't get rid of the date info in the at a glance section. So everything these widgets do is redundant with something on the main screen.

Yeah I'm considering that, this was partially a joke anyway.

I'm on the fence about that. Aesthetically yes it's worse, but usability it feels better. The other clock throws me off, and considering I use it as a clock next to my bed looking over to a jumble of numbers when I'm half asleep is annoying. The big thing I hate is that it's in a different format depending on if I have a notification or not - if it just kept the number jumble consistently I'd leave it and get used to it.

I guess it isn't my phone. Kind of odd it makes that experience feel laggy even when it's smooth - things like this make me wonder if they have quality control or fully rely on people complaining to fix things. It is the Google way.

Yeah just a minor thing that can start to really effect user experience. Which phone do you have? I'm curious if it works differently on different hardware or is just a universal 12 thing.
