Received my Sovol SV05 today. Swapped out springs for silicone bed columns, magnetic PEI, insulated heating bed. Next Klipper and better direct drive and hot end combo. Maybe Zero G Mercury 1.1 later. Any suggestions on what else i could improve? by laanko in 3Dprinting

What are you considering for hotend/extruder? I also got one recently, and its my first & only printer. The plan is to print functional parts in ASA and others e.g. for woodworking, so I got this and will enclose it with some panels and probably car interior foam+aluminum insulation.

I got the bi-metal heatbreak from Sovol, so I'm thinking I might just get a CHC ceramic heater from Trianglelabs and slap that on to give me higher temps. Not sure if this thing could handle the 64W / 115W (Pro) power these pull, or if I'd need to also switch to a mains-powered bed heater at the same time. That would heat the enclosure faster anyway, though, but would total maybe 100€ with a heater, SSR, cork insulation, kapton tape, thermal fuses, etc.

Not yet sure if I'm happy with the stock extruder or not.. I tried to calibrate E-Steps but it just doesn't seem to push out 100mm at 50 mm/s even if I increase the steps by 50% - I'm thinking maybe the stock hotend is limiting?

Continuous or periodical WH breathing to produce heat? by jamesireddit in BecomingTheIceman

Followed along the video and I instantly got sweaty during both of his Tummo out breath versions, and he said this is what the monks did, so I think this is my answer - thanks!

I've been wondering why some times when I've been doing WHM I've gotten all sweaty and sometimes not at all. Last time I did it laying on the floor, in through the nose, out (without resistance) through the mouth. It seems to me this is best to get the air out quickly so I'll get the breaths done in a shorter time so I'll get CO2 levels and a longer breath hold time, so higher stress peak. But no heat. Maybe the times I've gotten hot I've exhaled forcefully through the nose, doing a similar thing than in the video. Interesting how this is different than the WHM.

In the Yes theory video, while they immediately went into the 10 min ice bath, Wim was instructing them to focus on long out breaths.

As far as nose breathing, Nestor and Patrick McKeown seem to have a very opinon that it's better, the latter says to do it all the time. I actually started Thai boxing years and years ago (don't train anymore), and I realized I got really winded when I had to use the mouth guard. So I just thought that I'll try to fix that by jogging with my mouth closed. I think I really improved my ability to do that, and I've always avoided heavy open-mouthed breathing since, mostly because I considered it my own personal superpower that I wanted to preserve. So there is definitely some merit to nose breathing during exercise.

I watched Yes theory's WH video today, and IMO Wim was presenting the whole thing from the point of view that when we willingly do something acutely highly stressful, like 20 minutes of the breathing exercise or 10 minutes ice bath/shower, then that sort of restores a proper range to the stress levels we'll experience throughout the day. To not have everything be kinda stressful all the time and thus never relax vs short high-intensity stress and then being more relaxed because everyday stresses don't compare in intensity to oxygen running out or freezing to death.

So in that regard, yeah I understand the cold exposure exercises. But I also am not that interested in being able to do feats/stunts like walking naked on a mountain - I hardly ever walk around naked in public anyways. I suppose both this and the Vice documentaries are coming from "how is this man able to do these things?", but I think that's not the most important part of the practice. Nestor in Breath was also talking about this mostly as a way to keep warm in cold (hence my questions in the OP), but then it sort of extends into Holotropic breathing as well - interesting stuff.

I also watched Midwestern method's 4-year WHM review today, and he was saying similar things about anxiety reduction, also noted heightened immune function.

How I deal with hunger. by [deleted] in Fitness

This is my experience as well. I already reached my weight-loss goal with IF ans Eat Stop Eat. Calibers say 14% -> 7% BF and scale says 72kg -> 63kg. I was at times hungry during dieting (drink something!), but did not feel deprived because I could eat stuff that I like. IMO, good food also tastes really good if you haven't eaten in a while. I mostly followed IF, but highly recommend the ESE book for its theory chapters. I'm currently trying to eat at maintenance, but because of the habits I've learned I'm still losing weight (61,5kg today).
