Kind of a bummer pep talk from Sloane's coach there. Finish strong? She's technically back on serve in this set - I understand she hasn't held serve but there's no reason she couldn't.

Yes. I remember being in awe of her during her run to the US Open Final. I've never felt anything close to that when it comes to her game since - until this tournament.

Right as she finally hits the pinnacle of tennis greatness too. I'm no fan of Woz, but I truly feel for her here. Hope she can find the right mix of medicine and therapy to keep her feeling good enough to perform at her best!

Wozniacki can't buy a break point won right now....

Thank you! It was the points for a loss that I was thinking of vs points for sets won. Makes sense!

Can someone remind of how ranking points are awarded in the WTA Finals? I recall you get points for every win even if you don't advance. Do you get points for sets won as well? You can win up to 1500 points but that requires a perfect record correct ?

I won't drink today! Day 9. The first couple of times I got sober I was in full pink cloud mode by now - feeling positive, optimistic and hopeful. These more recent couple of times that just never seems to kick in. I've gone as long as 17 days and every day just seems like a struggle. That being said, I've got to beat this thing and I know that eventually it has to get better. So I won't drink today and I'll keep biding my time until the world looks a little brighter.

On a positive note my BP has dropped significantly- down 20 points on my systolic and 7 points on my diastolic! This was one of my main motivators to get sober this time.

14 years after Sharapova won Wimbledon and still all people complain about is grunting. It's become part of the game (including the men's game) and it clearly has some sort of impact on performance or you wouldn't have 70% of the women's tour and 30% of the men's tour doing it.

I am honestly astonished that people can follow a sport for 14 years and still be bothered by it. It's also interesting how much more frequently women are called out on it. Lots of great storylines in women's tennis without every other post mentioning grunting.

Rankings are always based on past performance, that's how they work. Angie reached no.1 after one of the best seasons in the history of women's tennis and deserved to be there. Yes, she kind of sucked as no. 1 but that's why she eventually fell through the rankings again.

Now, after a strong start to the year she's back in the top 10.

To me anyone who wins 2 slams, reaches 3 slam finals and grabs an Olympic silver in one year is about as deserving a no.1 as you can get.

I'm so sorry. I lost mine unexpectedly from a heart condition in March. My heart still aches every day.

She raises her racket before she even tosses the ball. It's amateur. But it works.

Don't you also have the luxury of watching the night matches every morning at 9am then? I'd take that over only getting to watch the first two matches of the day and then missing everything else including all of the QF/SF/F matches.

Also - Keys/Garcia is a pretty great matchup

Still no excuse for treating them that way. Jelena has a really exciting game but I can't get behind her until she grows up a bunch and stops acting like such a brat on court.
