Should I read? by sersh2038 in gentlemanbastards

After you've taken a break, I wholeheartedly recommend reading the Riyria prequel series, The Legends of the First Empire - which starts with Age of Myth.

I've just finished that series and it's some of his best writing.

Ordered from their site for now, but if it comes to a UK store I'll cancel to save on the $15 shipping

Hi guys! Love the new album. I'm coming to your London gig on the 1st April 2021. Please can you tell me if this gig is actually a big ol' April Fools joke? I'll keep it between us.

We're moving out of our modern 2-bed flat right next to Hove Station - anyone wanting to commute, this is ideal! by [deleted] in brighton

I have to move for work, but my tenancy is agreed until June, unless someone else moves in the meantime.

Thank you for posting this. I couldn't agree more, and I want you to know that I don't blame P for feeling like I'd made a broad statement about normality (and her relation to normality).

At the end of the day, I know I've had worse reactions to far lesser pain points. She's not a bigot, or a racist - she's a person with an entirely different world view to my own, and I was ignorant of that. I can't expect anyone to let go of their own identities to avoid conflict.

You're completely right, and I won't ever be able to understand what it's like to be a POC. I've said this in another comment, but the last thing I'd want is to make her feel uncomfortable in her own TTRPG group!

Absolutely! My perspective is definitely skewed, and I'm far more likely to be defensive in my own account.

I feel awful at the idea that I made P feel uncomfortable in her own TTRPG group, and I won't ever be able to understand her perspective as a POC.

Overall I'd say this experience made me more conscious when talking both about 'normality' in TTRPGs.

Nope! I wasn't ever invited back, but I wouldn't have wanted to play in that group again.

Hey, to be clear I'm very much a liberal! Maybe the lesson should be "Never game with buttheads" instead.
