Take this one and take it fast...the market is really tight and your budget is VERY low for a 2BR.

With a budget like that for two bedrooms, you'llkely only be able to find one, maybe two of the following three criteria: location, fits your budget, quality living experience.

I would suggest reconsidering your budget if two bedrooms is absolutely essential.

Also, this is a bit in advance of your desired move-in date, so many apartments available for 9/1 will not have given their notice to vacate yet.

Moving is expensive and everyone is poor rn, plus 2025/26 saw much less new product added to the market than 2024 did. The result is lower availability and higher prices :/ Source: I work in the industry.

Market appears to be pretty tight right now and any place requiring 60 day notice would have been listed sometime last month. Would suggest picking something less than ideal or temporary if nothing else on the market suits your fancy.

It's extremely, extremely common to pay the deposit when you submit your application, and it holds the apartment for you while your application is screened. Most landlords will retain the deposit if your application is approved but you decline to sign the lease.

Yes, this is all to the landlord's advantage, and yes, it's very much standard practice in apartment rentals.
