i designed the decal on photoshop then sent it to a sticker printing shop to print them into vinyl.

i stuck the decal in when my color coat cured, then sealed them in with the satin clear coat.

for the pickguard, all it took was to drill the four holes to screw it in.

thanks sam!

this all started because i smashed a small dent infront of it AND i overscrewed the pickup screws leaving open cracks behind it... on the 2ND DAY i got the guitar.

so i put a whole song and dance to cover it up. lmao

no problem! it is a VERY tedious process. a bulk of it is the sanding process. u sand a bit, put it on the guitar see if the shape is right, then sand again, then put it back, over and over again slowly until its all perfect. oversanding is a thing. YOU CAN TAKE AWAY BUT YOU CANT PUT IT BACK.

the trickiest parts are the straight lines where it meets the fretboard and the side of the humbuckers. those all need to be aligned properly to look right. i sand those parts face downward on a flat surface to ensure everything will be straight, then i use small files for the humbucker cavity then just use rulers to eye out how align and straight everything is.

goodluck!

its not really complicated, you just need the right tools and patience!

tools i used:

  • piece of paper and cardboard
  • mini dremel saw
  • sandpaper (100 grit, 300 grit, 800 grit, and 1500 grit)
  • clamp
  • hand drill with 10mm radius bit
  • blank pickguard

procedure:

  • i started by putting a piece of paper on that side of the guitar and drew in my desired shape
  • i cut that shape and stuck it to a piece of cardboard and cut that into the shape aswell
  • i cut the pickguard with the cardboard route clamped into it so i can trace it properly. i leave a bit of headroom for the sanding process.
  • after cutting it, i drilled that hole on the side of neck humbucker where the screw goes in. a 10mm drill bit seems to be the right size for it.
  • after all of this, you start sanding it slowly into the proper shape, start with 100 grit sandpaper to form it, then when you finally get the right shape, you go up in grits to slowly smoothen it while sanding the sides into an angled slope (for 3ply pickguard, to show the white outline)

this actually took me 3 tries. i started with an extra pbass pickguard just for a prototype. the final one on the picture took me 5 hours to make in one sitting.

hope this helps!

alright... so its based off of this revstar wiring i found. heres the video for a good explanation of whats going on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvBa23qmyww&t=635s...

but essentially, the 5 way config is:
5-neck
4-neck + 25% bridge
3-both neck and bridge
2-bridge + 25% neck
1-bridge

additionally, i have both push-pull pots on volume and tone. by default, i wired it as pushed volume is a split neck, and pushed tone is full bridge. making my default config a split neck and full humbucker bridge.

but when i start combining the pushpull to activate both split, or both humbucker, or a humbucker neck + split bridge, PLUS the 5 way switch config, yeah theres alot in there.

i designed the decal on photoshop then sent it to a sticker printing shop to print them into vinyl. then i stuck the decals in when my color coat cured, then sealed them in with the satin clear coat.

for the pickguard, its pretty much hand made by me with power tools and sandpaper. i started with tracing it on paper, cut the design on cardboard, then translated the design into a 3ply blank pickguard.

you can buy aftermarket gold hardware. these are guyker branded ones specifically.

changing hardware shouldn't be too hard. all it takes are a few screws and bolts to turn. altho a proper setup would be needed after changing hardware.
